I’ve finally started a new painting, helped I think by the arrival of rain! This  is from a photo of an old stone and wood stile near where I live. I posted a pen sketch of it a week or so back. Comments welcome.

Well done Tessa, promising progress, and good stage development. I’m hoping to start a new oil in the morning, it’s just starting to rain and is set for all day tomorrow. No better time to start! I’m just sifting through my sketch books for possible subjects that inspire me - that’s not easy!

Did a little more today, building up the dark tones to emphasise the sunlit field beyond the stile.

Yes, these stages are developing nicely Tessa, always the best way to work I find. Building up a painting methodically in layers makes sure you’re always in control,  - well that’s the idea anyway!

Thank you Alan. Here are a few more stages. It doesn’t look as if I’ve done much but am trying to get the tones right and build up the trees etc in the distance.
