Whilst it’s still clinging on, I thought I would try and do something in oils, following on from the watercolour. A couple of pics of the beginning.....

Wow, Fiona, what a beautiful WIP. It always is great to see the evolution of a painting. I especially love the subject: withered flowers are such a challenging and interesting subject (to me that is!!!). I am looking forward to seeing you post it in the gallery :) Mia
Looking good Fiona, you’re building this up nicely in layers and it’s progressing well - great WIP.
Looking so good already Fiona, looking forwards to seeing it progress and finished.
This is so good to see your WIP, great to see how you start with the dark shadows and your gradual build up. We all can learn from other peoples way of working. Looking forward to your next stage.
Looks good Fiona,  I have never tried using oils so it’s interesting to see your painting progress.
Good to see and follow your method Fiona.
Lovely work Fiona - can't wait to see the progress.
Wow, thanks very much to you all for your positive feedback, I was a bit dubious to be honest, especially after looking at it first thing this morning. Haven’t added anything more to it as yet, perhaps have another shot at it tomorrow.  I don’t want to make it much tighter than it is at the moment except to add a few darks, a few lights and just sharpen one or two spots up....maybe. I actually like the first stage, don’t know what it is about unfinished paintings but they have more appeal for me. Thanks again. If you have any ideas etc, please fire away.
Well, it won't surprise you if I think it's finished!
Lol....no Gudrun, no surprise! I still prefer just the sketching out one. I have finished it, well all it’s going to get anyway, tried not to sharpen it up too much. I’ve taken photos but the light is rubbish today so will try again tomorrow, hopefully the light will be improved. Thanks for your feedback.
Like you I also love the initial one, but you haven't lost the freshness in the last one, and that is difficult to achieve.  ... I have a lino planned, home schooling permitting ....
