I like using inktense pencils for small animal pictures, thought I would post this as a WIP. Derwent inktense pencil on 300grm Hahnemuhle watercolour paper.
That’s looking really good Linda, I look forward to seeing it develop.
Thanks Paul, just thought it might be useful for anyone thinking of using inktense for the first time to give an idea of how I blend my colours 👍😀
Excellent start - we have red squirrels where I live, on almost the most southern point of the Isle of Wight - they don't hang around long, waiting to be drawn: I did post some photographs my landlord took of them, here on the site's picture resource.... I think they're still there.  They have considerable colour variation, individually and seasonally - one of 'ours' is almost black, another is a rich chestnut red, beautiful when the sun catches it.  Long may they flourish here - your preliminary work certainly catches the subject: looking forward to seeing the finished result.
Thanks Robert, I wish we had them here, this is a pixabay free image for my ref photo, 😀
Looking good Linda, like the subtle colours and the pose!
Looks like it is going to be a very nice picture, Linda. I have a set of Inktense pencils but just haven’t gotten around to using them properly. I’d be interested to see how this one progresses.
Looking good, Linda.
This is lovely Linda, I’ve not used inktense pencil will be interested to see the progress of this drawing
Thank's Tessa, CJ, Hillary and Ron for taking the time to look and comment, Ron, I only have a set of 12, Derwent inktense pencils so I am limited to a certain amount of colour so I have to choose carefully, but this is probably a good thing. Have a go with them, I colour small areas at a time, lightly at first then blend darker as I go along adding a fair amount of water. You can achieve some lovely effects. Best to try on something small at first and get the feel for them, i'm ssure you will like them.
Yes an excellent start Linda, I do have a few but haven’t really exploited them to their full potential! It would make a good WIP for Dawn’s monthly e-shots, I believe that I’ve got yet another coming up shortly... might be worth mentioning it to her, they’re great fun to do.
Great start Linda, I haven’t tried inktense pencils either so like others commenting I look forward to seeing how the picture progresses to get a feel of their possibilities and use.
