This site is so full of individuals...who do it their way, and why not.  .that's what makes us artists... Happy new year to the .lot of you.   Me... I  will be tucked up tight with Sam... he sends a Wuff.
Looking forward to that Alan. I'm sure your portrait will be a success Pog. Once I get the basics of something, I usually run with it and experiment with my own tones. With oils and acrylics, it's something you can go over until you think it looks right. There are guides to help you but then, you have to do your own thing with it.

Wuff wuff wuff to Sam too !!! We can't be all the same, it would be boring for long term, and because we're such different human beings, conversations like in here is driving our minds and keep us going ;) All the best Sylvia ;)

Thank you Denise, and you got exactly to the point in here. Knowing the process cannot stop me experiment. I have some weird motor in my head, that's always pushing me further, and beyond... Thank you for understanding ;) Happy New Year ;)
Sorry for let down those who were waiting for the eyes been done - just have filled empty holes with the white paint for now - sorry... I attempted to paint the hair instead, and the white shirts. It took me longer than planned, so I didn't bother to finish the eyes, just yet... HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!
Gawd!  Take a look at the film Plan 9 From Outer Space, concentrating on the late Mr Tor Johnson, directed by Ed Wood, featuring, briefly, Béla Lugosi before he inconveniently dropped dead thus somewhat disrupting filming.....  More seriously -- or more practically, anyway -- don't let any of us, even the mighty Alan, frighten you out of tackling those eyes; put all nervousness aside, and just have a go at 'em: it's acrylic, you can overpaint, scrape out, and you can also take a bit of acrylic paper and practise on it first.  Are you putting it off?  Don't - be brave, be bold, and you'll learn a huge amount about how to do this next time, even if it doesn't quite work out this time: though I don't see any reason why it shouldn't.
PS - tone down the white areas of the eye - keep the brightest white/light to the very highlights, and keep those to the minimum.  The whites of the eyes can be blue-ish, or even yellowish (if we've got jaundice) - just tone them back and remembering that the whites of the eyes do tend to be somewhat transparent, not bold, chalky white.

Hi Robert! I hope you've had a great New Year time ;) Answering your keen comments - no, not at all, I'm not even thinking of giving up on it ;) It has to be done ;) All I've been saying, is that I'm struggling throughout  ;) Just learning to mix the paint the way I want, which I found it's very challenging ;) I know how to do it, lol ;) , just not so easy to get it done by myself ;) All advice is very welcome in here, whether from Alan or you Robert or any other member, and I'm too old to be afraid do anything really, lol ;) I'm just going for it, whether I'm doing it wrong or right, I'm learning on mistakes ;) And here we go - eventually I did some further moves on the eyes ;) BTW I didn't see that movie you've mentioned  ;)
Just improving (or making worse) around - whatever I can ;)
Even though I kind off liked the background, I felt it gets too patchy at same time, distracting the viewer from focusing on the main subject. I did make it a solid black-ish, just to see if I may prefer this look.
I did some work on niece's face today. Not the whole area though, the chin is left till tomorrow  ;) ● YouTube ; Session No.4
I've done niece's face in full today, so the next layer of flesh tone will let me bring some more details up. I did some blocking of the lips too.
