Corvids are extremely intelligent birds , try hiding food Carole but initially make it easy for them it’s very entertaining and apparently good for them as it develop their skills . I had a raven that had lost a wing , it’s was amazing how it found stuff even moving upside down ice cream tubs etc. It used to scare next doors cat out of the garden , but I suppose one peck from that beak was enough encouragement.

I too, love corvids. Jackdaws are my favourites. I love watching their antics!
I read about some crows that lived next to an office block car park in America. There was an office worker who drove a red sports car and he used to throw stones at the crows. Years after he left, new generations of crows would be very wary of red sports cars, cawing loudly to each other when one parked there and would even dive bomb any that came into the car park!

Like your avatar, Julie. I see no reason whatsoever why that man would do such an awful thing, they are as Dixie mentioned an intelligent creature. They obviously learn and teach their young in the process.
One little story. I placed bread chunks and cheese in the garden, in they came, two Carrion crow and a few magpies. The food was going fast (those carrion's can stuff a fair bit into their beak) One of the magpies hid a piece of cheese under a few leaves, rejoined the group. They all flew off, no food left. I waited, back came the magpie, it looked about, happy the coast was clear, it went back for the cheese and flew away. Wily, to say the least.
Enjoyed your stories, thanks for sharing.

It's a Raven, lovely, lovely, lovely. Some people don't like the corvids. I often place food in the garden and watch their behavior the magpies are a cheeky lot.All animals on our Earth do exist for some reason, we may like some more, other species maybe less, but I believe they all matter 😉 I remember somebody compared lovely squirrel to the rat - he said - swap their tails, and see if you gonna love squirrels anymore 🙈 Magpie is stunning bird as well, very aggressive though, but beautiful on it's own for sure. There's no too many birds in Europe with this long tails like parrots... Thank you Carol ;)

You did experience the Raven companion, where I could see them far away in the zoo's enclosure only... I've been watching the other day TV documentary, where they were hiding found food... They were playing they hiding it, but taking it with them to hid it elsewhere lol, in believe others can't steal it from the place 😅 Yeah - I wish I could experience Raven's companion too Paul 😉
