Having a change from the pen and trying something different using my inktens travel palettes and my 2b point 9 propelling pencil..subject a view of Gloucester.
Looks promising, Bari.  Amazingly high view point!  Did you have to climb a spire or did you have a drone?
Picture from a magazine sad to say having been restricted to local walks for the past year have used up most of my resources. Just working on some of the details. Must stop myself putting in the detail that I know is there but I can't see.
Playing with a bit of colour need to find the contrast between the background and the midground.
Coming together looking like it might work out.
I love that tree on the left Bari, the detail is so effective.
Thanks Carrie my problem is that I tend to over do the detail especially after working on my pen and ink...moved on a bit after a late night in the studio.

Looking good Bari well done .
If detail works for you, then stick with it.  A lot of people LIKE detail - it's not a fixed law of nature that everything we do has to be loose.  That concept is really rather recent.
I agree Robert....don’t fall over in shock.  Personally I don’t like detail  but each to their own.
I also agree! Stick with what works!  I’m not big on detail in my paintings as you will have all noticed, it just doesn’t work for me personally...  We all have different ways of approaching painting, I start by blocking in my darkest tones, and I prefer to work over the whole painting, rather than completing individual areas. I suppose it was how I was taught many moons ago now, but its worked for me, although still a work in progress!
Thanks everyone for the feedback.  It's more about putting details in the far distance, you can't see them but you know they are there, the eye tells you one thing and you're brain tells you another. Don't know if you have read ' Drawing on the right side of the brain ' by Betty Edwards but it gives a lot of food for thought..
