My latest project is an original Ford Mustang Fastback. Here is the pencil sketch to start it off. This one will be a watercolour. Size of the paper is A4 and will be using my favourite White Nights watercolours.
Watching this one on FB as well, looking really good so far! One of my favourite cars, now unfortunately well out of my reach financially.
Update on the Mustang.
A superb drawing.  I shall watch its progress with interest.
Colour now going onto the Mustang and it's beginning to become 3D. Love this bit.
Looking good! Getting the body in colour brings the car to life and gives it such depth, love it!
Stunning and beautifully drawn , I love a drawing when some paint is added and it starts to form the shape and structure of the vehicle.
Some late night work done on this, mostly because it was cooler, and I like the way it is progressing.
It's coming along beautifully.  I'm impressed that it's only A4 size, there are lots of small details, I'd have to work much larger on such a project...these days my hands won't let me do fiddly bits. Interesting that you work late because of the heat.  I guess we're all having to adjust.  I'm up early and just lately having been drawing around 5.30 am...around four pm the sun has moved around my house leaving the front in shadow so I can do a little bit more in the front spare bedroom.
Flying along! Those dummy vents at the front are great fun aren’t they? It’s details like that that bring the painting to life.

Hi Lewis,  I have to admit to being a late evening into the night artist before this, being quite happy to start at 9 to 10pm and working through till the wee hours. It's just with this heat and the paint drying even quicker I am starting even later. I find that even with these paintings where I am not using wet into wet it's often a challenge for me to get an even layer before you end up with 'stripes' where one bit has gone over another and you find it was already dry. Having said that I am sure anyone working with watercolour is having the same issues at the moment. As to the size I have found that a lot of folks like them this size, especially where they have a few and they can then put them all together. I have been doing this size for 45 years so i guess I have just got used to them being this small.  I have done and do enjoy painting larger pictures as you can get even more detail (some OCD here!!!), but these I do in acrylic and as an example here is an AC Shelby Cobra which is about 4 times the size (by way of comparison with the two mediums)

Very true Anth. I have found that I can work so much quicker with watercolour over acrylic, probably around half the time so they do seem to zip along. I also like it as I get to the result much faster, which is after all the whole idea (well for me anyway). Yes the detail on these cars is great, simple by very stylish.
