Thank you Bari. I hadn’t thought of it like that. Part of my thinking was that they are being blown about as they fall, but I can see that I should do it so your eye goes in one direction. I was told a good composition would work upside down and this doesn’t. I guess having said that, that if they are falling then it should only work in one direction.

Agreeing with Alan here - perhaps as a pattern this doesn't quite work, but I didn't look at it as such, but rather as a presentation of individual leaves and a study of their form. I do tend, I think, to look for individual touches rather more than overall impressions, and as such I enjoyed this because it's well painted.

I do agree with all that has been said , it’s well painted and the individual leaves are good. I would look at adding a couple of leaves that are curled up at the edges and possibly have holes in them , the would add bit more depth . Have a look on the internet for photos of leaves falling, to get the shapes and add your own colours. I repeat what’s said your colours and shakes are really good.

Are you happy with it Caroline ? I think it looks good. Sometimes rather than “arrange” . Just drop your leaves onto a surface it’s how they are in the wild….especially in my garden right now. I do that with bulbs when I plant them. Plus I’d splat much, much more , but then I would. ( I like splat) .
