I posted this painting a while back and said at the time I was unhappy with the big tree behind the barn . Originally it should have had a few branches up over the barn unfortunately I fiddled with it so much it became a green puddle , I do like the barn and the rest of the scene. It eventually got on my nerves and I was irritated as all I could see was the xxxxxxxx tree and not the decent things about the painting. I decided it needed some serious tree surgery, I have made alterations to painting ps in the past but never one that I have done a while ago. As I have nothing to loose I decided to lift out the bulk of the tree with a wet sponge and let it dry before repainting it again. It should work out but yiu never know with these things, hopefully someone will find it useful and use the demo to repair any painting ps they have that need a bit of surgery. Don’t every believe that it’s impossible to correct mistakes in watercolour, I’d be tearing up so many if I did believe that. The painting before I remounted it on a board ready to proceed. Taped back onto the board. The initial steps in the process getting a better looking painting , sponged of with clean water , don’t need to go back to the white paper.
I have put in the background hills in indigo to give it the distant look, also roughly outline the main features of the trees rear of the barn . It’s at this stage that you look at it and think oooh what have I done , what a mess it looks , now’s the time to start putting it back together, and keep those fingers crossed.

I think you're doing a good job of editing it. It seems more part of the "scene" now.
Thanks Jade , hopefully it will looke a lot better when it’s completed.
Hi. I didn't have a problem with your original tree. Maybe a little copping 🤔
Thanks Martin , it’s one of those things where you see nothing but the mistake every time you look at it , even cropping it would not make any difference in my eyes , but thanks for the suggestion .
I’ve managed to get a bit of time to work on this one today along with two others in doing. I removed the green that was obscuring the sky on the left above the distant hills , I will replace the sky before I start adding the foliage to the trees .  Put in the main structure of the big trees behind the barn and patched the roof a little, it was at this point that I messed it up last time as I use far to dark a colour for the foliage this time it will be yellow greens put in so as the leave the background slightly visible through the tree  The photos were taken under the lamp so it looks a lot brighter that it actually is , unfortunately the daylight is so poor I can’t get a decent photo. In case anyone is wondering why I add a mono photo it’s because I find it so useful for checking tone etc , if it looks good in mono then I’m on the right track .
Now that’s much better Paul, well done!
Spot on Paul! 👍
Thank you Alan and Fiona , while I would prefer not to have needed to do this I have actually enjoyed the challenge. Not quite done yet but certainly looking much better already I think ,must remember not to fiddle around with it .
Nice job. I often find that I get obsessed with one bit but noone else would pick it up.
