I’ve just received an email sent via POL which tell me that someone wants to buy some of my paintings. Given that I’ve never ever sold a painting I was immediately on my guard. The contact wants to chat with me on WhatsApp and provides me with a contact number of a mobile in Thailand.  There is no way I’m going to respond. Just interested, has anyone else been contacted in this manner as it definitely feels suspicious.  Just noticed the same person has posted similar request on various paintings in the gallery, so now even more suspicious. I suspect someone trawling for contact email and phone numbers.

I have also received the request to buy. It stands out as a scam so will ignore and report to team.
Diane, I’ve just emailed Dawn with a copy of the mail.
Diane and Andy I just posted a comment on the other thread here about The Art Guy. I wondered if there’s a connection. We all need to be aware, as you two obviously are!
What is the name of the person sending the message as they need to be a member to be able to send you a message or comment on any painting etc. My reason for asking is that Dawn can ban the person and as moderators we can’t unless it’s on the forum .
It’s NFT rubbish. Just reply ‘no NFTs. ‘ and they’ll go away.
Hi All, Thanks for flagging this one up. It's definitely a scam and I have sent copies on to our web team for them to investigate further. I am sure they will block this email address but, unfortunately, they will probably be back with a new account soon after. Our use of Captcha when registering has prevented a lot of this sort of thing but they keep finding ways round everything. Just have to be vigilent at all times these days!
This was on the ITV news last night. It’s all based in Myanmar. The scammers are literally kidnapping people who reply to an advert re IT. They’re holding them and forcing them to scam people all over the country. An ITV reporter went to Thailand undercover. Shocking. Be on your guard it’s about crypto currency, a woman in Manchester was scammed out of hundreds of pounds.

Thank you for clearing that one up fast Dawn. I expect everyone got the same email. Carry on painting folks.
I also got it and deleted it straight away.
We've got one "Kylie Ellie" posting on the Gallery images, too - and looking deeply suspicious, offering to buy but first contact her on Watsapp or whatever the thing's called.  Not to be touched with a bargepole.
Yes I received this too and was suspicious because the English was not very good and couldn’t find her on the POL site. Deleted it too. You’ve got to be so careful these days with different scams going on.
