Hi - seeing as you admin guys are doing as such a top notch job of killing off spam postings, could I make a few suggestion for the website techies. 1. Provide a mechanism to report postings on the gallery rather than emailing Dawn about them (ref. the digital gold posting currently on page 2 of the gallery (as of 11:05 20SEP24) ) 2. Provide a mechanism where forum administrators could suspend users who post such stuff on the gallery. 3. Provide a mechanism whereby an artist can delete a comment against one of their paintings. A few paintings have been hit by spam about fake money and it would be good to get rid of this as soon as possible. Yes I realise an artist might feel they want to delete negative comments on their work, but I hope that this facility wouldn't be used to stifle real constructive criticism.  Just a thought.

It would be easier to stop them posting in the first place, that deleting them after they’ve posted their garbage  It has been said before, many times I think…  if a new user had to go through a simple form of approval before they could post anything, the genuine ones wouldn’t mind that, but the non-genuine ones would likely not bother to have to wait for approval. A lot of online things have this now… some facebook groups for example, often ask you a couple of questions before you are allowed to post in their group. Other sites simply advise that your comment needs to be approved by admin before it is visible to the group. It’s the norm in this day and age
Helen that sounds just so sensible and surely wouldn't cost an arm and a leg, seeing that the technology exists and is apparently widely used? Concerning to hear that the spammers are now hitting on posts in the Gallery.

That also makes good sense Helen! I think this suggestion has been raised before, possibly by yourself, I like it…
I agree , it would be a good solution. 👍
That does sound sensible. I have suggested before that one can only use the forum once you have posted something on the gallery, just a case of putting an extra step in the way to using the forum which would not deter the genuine user. I don’t use social media or other forums, but am I right in thinking that this site is particularly easy to add this sort of junk?
It has been suggested several times over the over  year   , just need those who can authorise the change to take note and action it . I don’t think the cost would be that great and definitely cheaper than some elaborate system, simply effect deterrent a d I be,I’ve it would work as the spammers won’t wast time.
