Morning everyone… You may have noticed that we’ve been hit with a particularly nasty attack by these morons! I shifted and banned something like 30 of them during the early hours, and another dozen so far this morning, but they keep coming thick and fast! I’ve done my best, and I hope that the other three moderators will step in asap.

Many thanks to you Alan, and the other moderators, for the work you all do in getting rid of this rubbish for the rest of us.   These people can't have all their oars in the water, do they think anybody reads their nonsense?
Yes thank you Alan and the rest of you who have to remove this irritating dross. We are grateful.
Thanks to you Alan and all the moderators who remove the rubbish before most of us see it. I did see the bombardment in the early hours.
They seem to be having a great time of it at the moment over the last week I have deleted and banned  countless of posts mostly the sand person who had deposited lots of the same rubbish . Unfortunately they have the equipment to multi post were we can only remove one at a time . I suspect that they are listed in the early hours due to the time zones as most are generated from the Eastern region, if I up  in the night I do remove them but don’t  do the night shift normally.
Caught some in the early hours, but had to go to bed eventually!  Consequently, slept to gone 10am today - congratulations to those who better stood the pace.  The fight against anti-social media knows no end.
Just adding my thanks to those stalwarts who delete this rubbish to keep the site usable for the rest of us. Let's hope this current rush of rubbish dies down soon.
Reading the amount of time this is taking the moderators I'm motivated to make a suggestion, even if it will likely be non viable or shot down in flames. This is taking far too much valuable time that could be better spent. Could there be some sort of gateway that would block this stuff? Like having to log in to access the forum? It would add another step but I for one would be quite happy to do this if it actually worked to keep the rubbish out. There does seem to be a forum "group" (for want of a better way of putting it), so perhaps others might like to comment? I know this has come up for discussion before but I can't remember if there was an outcome. I'm sorry if I am out of line suggesting this but today's posts on this thread do concern me, I wonder how long the moderators are prepared to keep this up.
I have previously suggested a 24 hour delay between first registering and being able to post on the forum, that way you slow the process down so the spammers lose interest and move onto another easier site.  I don't know if the banning process blocks any future use of the same email address but that would be a good way to stop reregistrations too.
Andrew when we remove spam we also ban the person well the name they are using at the time . Dawn did say a while back all they need to do is use another name and URL I think it was obvious with the equipment and skill a lot of them have that’s easily overcome.
I'm more or less permanently logged in, though have to log in afresh after (quite a long) while: so logging in won't stop them, they have to do that anyway.  Introducing a delay - might help; I understand too little about bots n'all to know whether it would or not.   I got up bright and early this morning, and - no spam!  They aren't even predictable!   Can't say I missed them, but I was looking forward to a bit of squishing....
There's an option on Facebook groups to allow new members to post freely, only after their first post has been approved. It seems to be effective. It needs to be flagged up clearly on the registration page though. Not sure if it's technically possible on the POL software.
