Fiona that is really nice, I like the branches in the foreground and your choice of colours.
I don’t remember seeing this one Fiona, great little watercolour. Re the boat one, put a wash of neutral tint over the rudder part only, if you can follow that! It needs some tone to lift it. Don’t tell me , you haven’t got neutral tint!
I’m telling you I haven’t got neutral tint Al! Lol I haven’t got anything fancy like that.....can I mix it.....is it a posh name for grey? Lol. You did a version of this photo Alan, in ink on grey paper, it was one of the earlier photos that Dawn put on the forum. Yours is terrific. I’m pleased that you like it, you don’t think the tree branches are over done?
Oh yes, I do remember now you mention it. I’ve been too busy lately to do any of these challenges. Try indigo with a touch of light red, you’re looking for a cool transparent grey that’s great for shadows etc. It’s a must for most watercolour artists, buy a tube next time. Let me guess, you don’t have indigo! Well you can mix that also, I’m sure you know how!
I do have Indigo Alan, and surprisingly, light red also. I couldn’t throw money away buying another tube of paint, I already have at least eight tubes! Thank you for your tips, I will have a go at that rudder tomorrow. X
Paul thank you very much for your very kind words about the branches, it is the one part I was dubious about. I’ll put it to one side and look at it with fresh eyes.  Thanks again.
Alan, I’ve had another bash at this rudder.....final one I might add.  Any good?
That’s what I meant, spot-on Fiona!
Excellent Fiona.
Hoorah! Thank you Alan and Paul for your interest, appreciate your input. I’m not going to bother doing the other one like this.....lol Thanks again.
Neutral Tint is the colour that Rowland Hilder said he'd be "lost without" - I don't actually have any just now: it's a grey, basically, yes.  Tell you what, Fiona, I'll buy some if you will: we could start a run on the product...
Robert, it may be added to my next Jacksons order. I will need to check if Old Holland produce a neutral tint? The mix of Indigo and light red that Alan suggested is quite a nice mix, I’ll certainly use it again.  Now you have mentioned Rowland Hilder, I recognise the colour from his wonderful skies.
