MmmmmHilary looks mighty like a cockroach to me.  Yuk.
That's no cockroach; that's a shield bug - the garden will be full of them at certain times of year: nothing like as pestiferous as cockroaches.  There are quite a few species - don't ask me what they are though.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pentatomidae Here you go: all explained.
Thank you Robert for the info - yes it is a shield bug, it landed on my paper when I was out painting in woodland last summer.
Thanks for the explain Robert,    I hate Cockroaches…  They used to stalk up the hospital corridor when I was on night duty in the sixties so we sprayed then with anaesthetic , then swept them up.  Shield bug , great.
Ashamed to say ( but not really ) we played a trick on a friend who was overnight in an old hospital ( Victorian, the RVI in Newcastle). We pretended to find a cockroach on his bed ( it was a rubber one). We aren’t in contact any more…..but not because of that😆

Just had chance to sit down and quickly do something for today challenge.  I dislike cockroaches as well Sylvia, most of the places i was stationed at overseas were crawling with them, they were immune to  DDT and Flit Gun , size eight boot did a better job . It’s said that cockroaches survived the A bomb tests in the 1950/60 s  Not a cockroach, grasshopper or cricket .
He is very pretty Paul.
