It's very good, and too good for me to presume to offer advice!  But I will anyway ..... a good way to darken yellow, or show shadows on it, is to add violet - the complementary colour.  There are other ways too, of course: adding a darker yellow, or orange.  Anything but adding tube grey or black.
Shadows for yellow flowers are tricky. Davy's Grey can be used a pale neutral grey, maybe with a little Windsor orange but a better mix could be a blue - orange mix French ultramarine and Windsor Orange for example.
My Davy's Gray has a distinctly green cast - and is opaque; I can see how it might darken yellow, but with any of these mixes - DO practise on an offcut of watercolour paper first; otherwise the results can be ghaaaastly....

Thank you all for the advice. I will practice but have to admit yellow isn't my favourite paint colour - maybe I'll find some white daffs next time!
This is a little drawing of my friendly Welsh dragon named Dai (obviously) who was given to me by a good friend when we moved from Wales some years ago, lest we should forget our identity! He’s about 4 “ high and has sat on my kitchen windowsill ever since.
March has clearly inspired some great paintings. Mine might buck the trend but here it is. I Hope it doesn't frighten all of those lovely dragons! It's an earlier piece which I had entitled "Daffodils."
Different, exciting  and two of my favourite colours what's not to  not to like.   No problem scaring the dragons certainly the Welsh ones.  Though looking at Tessa's teeny tiny one in her nice drawing , your pic might have an adverse effect on him....sorry Tessa he looks a bit wimpy, yes ,I know you love him.

Sylvia- how could you! Don’t you know what happens when you upset a dragon! ? He’s en route to North Wales breathing fire as we speak, so look out you!
