Thank-you for your reply Paul. I wasn't getting mixed up between the Monthly Challenge and Sketch a Day, I was confused between Sketch a Day with a daily topic and sketch what you feel like when you can. Also the change from monthly to constant thread and the change from you to Gillian, which I think happened while I was away.   I would like to suggest to Gillian though that it might be a good idea to start a new thread for 2026? To save scrolling back through too many screens if you want to check back. What do you think Gillian?

Hi Sandra, funnily enough I was thinking about the size of this thread earlier this month so at the end of this month I will start a new thread  and close this one. It won’t be in the challenges  section of the forum I shall put in general discussion which is where I  originally  started sketch a day, I will have a chat with Paul to make sure that we don’t conduce everyone

Yes please keep it simple and easy to find then I for one will enjoy taking part when I can. I did find the different threads became confusing. I’ve enjoyed these daily threads and challenges very much in the past but they only work if people regularly take part, otherwise they get lost, so again please keep it clear and simple and maybe the New Year is the ideal time to rope people in.

Pen and paste and acrylic white pen .
Simple and easy to find sounds really good. However Gillian what about Tessa's suggestion to start the new thread in January 2026 rather than next month?  Also good idea of yours to take it out of the challenges section, I did think that could lead to confusion.
A quick pen and pastel, I used a white acrylic pen for the thick snow on the roof , I have overdone the yellow in the fore ground.

Thanks Tessa, I will start the new thread at the New Year as you suggest!

Something I started at Art. Group yesterday
I started a still life sketch of the bust of David I have. I normally sketch in graphite or charcoal but I thought I would get the oils out today. I sketched it in Burnt Umber then used Raw Umber and white to blob the paint on and get some shapes going. This is about 4 hours. I'll spend a couple of hours tomorrow finishing him. It will be basic I'm not looking for great detail with this just trying it with oils and getting the basic form of it.
That’s coming along nicely Gill, Denise you painting is looking so good already .
