Lew, your idea of a portaloo reminds me of Rupert Aker’s mini studio/gallery in Painswick which is called The Loovre and is actually a converted public loo!

Facetious lot you are ...though I do like the “Loovre”.
Yes I like the 'loovre'.  What a brilliant use of an obsolete building.  The way the high streets are dying off, there ought to be lots of scope there for similar things.  But someone will always want paying. A last couple of pics of an artist's studio.  I wasn't going to post anymore, but it must be wonderful to have the space to work on several pics as this fellow is doing.  He's James Jean, an artist and illustrator.
I agree Lew it would be good to have more space, but I’d be lost in a room that big. I’d end up letting people use some of it, anyway big is better( say he with a green eye). Sharing space would be good, bet their would be arguments about who’s made the mess.
I would really love to have space around me so that I wouldn't get wound up about the mess. I hate leaving mess too long, I can't just shut the door on it and I can't get down to painting if too much is around me , it's like clearing a space in my mind as well as the space around. The ideal would be well planned storage , materials easily accessed and enough space to have a few things on the go at once. But it's not good if we get everything we want...😏
This is a very interesting topic, Lew, and it is great to get a peek into other people’s studios or workspaces. I have to say that I spent many hours at the kitchen table when I started, then progressed to a corner of the spare bedroom (by the window). A couple of years ago we had a garden studio put in which was originally going to be my office, since I worked from home. Fortunately I retired short before it was installed, so now I get to use it as my studio and art glory hole though I have to share it with my wife (she does photography). What I think this thread shows is that you don’t need a swanky studio to make great art, as evident in the PoL gallery. Here’s my cosy corner...
That’s a fabulous space Ron. I agree with you regarding your own particular painting space having nothing to do with the quality of work you can produce. As you say, the results are on the gallery!
Ron.  A brilliant working space for you and your wife.  I feel quite envious.  Obviously if you want to paint and draw you can always find somewhere to do it, but how nice to have a separate place devoted to it.
Agreed! Ron that looks very organised. I just bought the new Addictive Sketcher by Adebani and inside the cover is a quote from him which is “The world is your studio. Never let anything remain unsketched”. This could suit our sketch a day January also.
Waiting for mine to arrive Tessa.  I’m having a  signed one. Nahnaa
D’oh! Trust you! It’s a cracking book Sylvia. I’m sure you’ll love it.
http://bit.ly/addictive-sketcher Not sure if this link works from here.  But it can be copied and pasted .  Ve just done it.
