Only the Dutch ones….
😁😁
Ah yes, that song! Something about Old Amsterdam….? Yes Robert, a long way from painting, but the Forum sometimes does that doesn’t it!
Little mice with clogs on ,where, there on the stair right there in Roberts...How's about a cat ?
A big cricket bat would make a start I’m afraid I wouldn’t be as tolerant especially in the night , it’s bad enough try to get enough sleep as it is. Of course I would only knock them out then take them for a long ride.
Poor little buggers
I can't stop singing that song now! 😂
I quite often do commissions of family pets, and (very) occasionally of people. Whilst I wouldn’t class my work as expensive, I’m also not cheap. If someone is not willing to pay the modest amount I charge, I am not going to paint for them. You will find that as soon as you tell people how much something is going to cost, most of them will disappear. I had a lady last month ask me about doing a painting for her son. She had seen some of my work at her friend’s house. She wanted a bus, a tram, and a train all on the one picture, so I sent her some sketches of how they could fit on a canvas. All looked good until I sent her the price. She replied ‘would it be cheaper if I just have one vehicle? I just wasn't’ expecting it to be that expensive..’ (It wasn’t expensive…)

So I guess that means that a charcoal sketch would be cheaper than a full coloured sketch?  After all, you use fewer colours... Doug
I would say that the medium is pretty much irrelevant, to a point…it’s the anticipated time that a commission will take to complete that is the contributory factor here.
People expect to be charged. They will know the going rate. If not, they will look it up.  Some cough, but after a while they come round.
But what is the going rate? There isn’t one! It all depends on the individual artist…
Indeed! Some portraits have taken me just a few hours, and some have taken several days or even weeks (not non stop of course 😂 - but you know what I mean). I’m not going to say, ‘Oh yours was only a quick 2 hrs so it’s only 40 quid..’ 🤣
