Following Paul’s thread I looked up trees I had drawn/ painted. The example below was painted for my son when he moved house about 13 years ago. It was the view he looked out on in West Yorkshire. Acrylic. Anyone else got memories to share?
This is exceptional Marjorie… I’ll kick off my offerings with a winter oak in a snowy landscape…
I painted a beech tree in Spring and Autumn, in Plymbridge Woods, only to find the following year that the National Trust had cut it down.  Here is the spring one.
What beautiful colours Alan. Complementary colours really work here…you’ve got a nice zigzag working there. Linda, that tree is monumental! So good you painted it before it was cut down.

Thanks Marjorie… I promise not to post too many, I’ve got a lot of trees on file without resorting to my portfolios! This was an actual tree that I came across several years ago, I’ve sketched it many times - here it is using a dip pen on tinted paper.

Some excellent examples posted , I will include this one though I posted it in another thread , out of all my paintings this is one that my wife ( my biggest critic, usually responds with a mm ok when I ask what she thinks of a painting)likes the most .
Great thread Paul & Marjorie. I find it difficult to paint anything but trees…..I also like to paint parts of trees. This old moss covered stump greeted me as I walked onto the raised peat bog reserve I looked after……we would exchange a good morning greeting, an old friend. Not a particularly good photo I’m afraid, doesn’t do the detail justice.
Interesting that we return to painting/ sketching the same trees. Personally, I seem to have a connection with quite a few. Seems to apply to us all - Alan’s tree which I can imagine him standing to sketch. And Paul, your lovely peaceful snow scene. Fiona - this must have taken ages! But you were fascinated…it looks like a creature. My trees on the whole are less detailed. The one below ( which is a bit over the top ) was an aged olive tree in Sicily. I certainly didn’t sit out in the heat to sketch it but tried to covey the heat with the colour. It’s big, maybe A1.
Some wonderful trees drawn, sketched and painted in both threads. Isn't it sad to see so many of these 'giants' uprooted and lost as a result of last weekend's storm.
It definitely is saddening Russell but even worse is the ones taken out for HS2 many were ancient listed trees , reports say many were not anywhere near to the line by contractors who were paid per tree the cut down. Sorry bringing politics and personal feelings into the thread . I will pick out some of my older paintings  to add .
I took some photos last Spring of a beautiful cherry tree in blossom, with a view to painting it. A short while later it split and had to be cut down. I will definitely paint it.
I painted this en plein air in the Scottish Borders. I remember the day so well.
