I can't upload my work to site. After following the same format for several years: Take a pic of my  work with my Sony Ciber-shot camera, link it to my pc via a lead and upload the pictures ready to edit and put up on site, I suddenly can't do this? Microsoft tell me (on screen) that I need to update my pc. Trouble is, however I try to do this doesn't work. I can get past pictures up, but not any new ones. I'm completely baffled. Why can't Microsoft etc not leave things alone? My son, who knows far more about computers than me, has also had no luck so far. It's so annoying.
That’s awful Jim,  I’m sure they change thing every so often so that we have to buy new bits to keep our pc, pads etc working . Hope it’s soon resolved for you .
My uploading has just changed as well without me knowing anything about it. I upload from my phone and used to be able to go straight into my pictures folder, now it won't do that so they go into a different folder and then I have to transfer them. Why do these changes always seem to make things less convenient?
I now dread trying to upload!  My computer is getting on a bit, but what's worse - so am I.... I know Jim can give me a year or two, but even so, the older I've got the more nervous I've become about computers: I need a 12 year old child to show me how....  they seem to know these things by instinct, whereas new technology can reduce me to whimpering in a corner. Hoping that's not happening to Jim or Peter - and that an answer can be found.  I'll try an upload, if I can find anything I've photographed that I haven't shown before.  I take it that this is a MS updating issue, rather than a problem with this website?
I’m not experiencing any problems, but I’m working with fairly new Mac platforms as in my iMac, MacBook Air and and iPhone… Photos taken with my Nikon DSLR and iPhone go directly into my Photos folder… no fiddling around plugging in leads to transfer them! It couldn’t be more simple, but I can’t comment about Microsoft Windows etc… These huge companies do normally inform their customers about any pending changes they may want to make, obviously they haven’t done that!
No, Microsoft just throws its updates at you - they managed to disable my printer last year: fortunately, for once I didn't fly into a panic, but just went to HP (another company that's extremely mean with information, and what there is tends to be misleading); ignoring reams of irrelevant advice, I just downloaded the latest drivers, and everything worked again.   Fortunately, I knew about drivers (without knowing why they're called 'drivers') and how to get at them; if I hadn't, I'd have had a useless printer; and I suppose that's the secret here, really - update the life out of our hardware so we have to go and buy new; actually, that's almost certainly nonsense, but I do wish these companies would, now and then, explain things in language that can be understood by someone who left school 55 years ago.... instead, full of the heady rush of invention, they tweak and fiddle with little apparent concern for the average computer Klutz of a certain age; most tech people I've encountered seem to be hardly pubescent.....
What annoys me is that a very high percentage of the people using these products are like us, not knowledgeable about them but knowing just enough to use them. The companies don't think about us, they concentrate on the 5% who are interested in the tech. I just want the damn thing to work, like my washing machine or microwave.
I've just successfully uploaded an old drawing - it was significantly delayed by the Cloud Flare software that the web designers have installed in order to combat spam; but it appeared on the Gallery long before Cloud Flare felt it had finished with it.  I wonder if this is part of the problem - older computers not being able to deal with the software, which was introduced here quite recently, I believe.  Pure guesswork on my part; probably wrong.  I wonder if Jim and Peter have tried again, and had better luck?
I can post without any trouble and my computer dates from 2016; it's the uploading from my phone to the PC that has changed. I've given up using my camera, the phone does the job better and it's easier to use.
I'm working at it Peter. I.ve reset the whole thing on my pc. Took almost a day, but my son has the camera so I won't know till he brings it back.

Hi Jim,  can you tell us any more?  When you say you used to 'upload' do you mean you went to file manager in windows and move/copy the images from your camera folder, to your PC folder?  Or did you use an app related to the camera?  Which version of windows are you on?  If it's a MAC, sadly I have no experience with these. Windows updates are always problematic for older machines.  Every now and then it wants to upgrade me to windows 11 my my PC isn't up to it.  At that point I just walk away from it until it realises the same .... it could have asked me, of course!

Hi Norrette. I've always just linked my camera to my pc via a lead. When I  switch the camera on I get any pics in the camera comming up on screen. (I always delete pics after editing so only new work appears) where I can edit and save them. It's always been so simple till Microsoft started updates. (My version is Windows 10)  I.ve reset my pc as I'm not a big internet user, so when I get my camera back it's fingers crossed.
