Hi everyone, well here we are entering into November and yet another lockdown ( in a England at least) . I know many of us want to continue With this daily challenge so here we go! Hopefully I will follow up with one later on!!
I am very glad seeing it appear again Gillian. As for lockdown, we have had some experience already and all we can do is try to keep safe and knuckle down. Things like this help everyone pass some time and take minds of current events. It was your post that started me sketching and drawing. I hadn't done any before.

Well done and thank you Gillian for keeping it going. I think we need it more than ever now! In case you hadn’t noticed, it’s Movember!

Lovely sketches Tessa, I've done a couple of faces. I bought a book yesterday to help me to understand a bit more about portraits but I haven't had chance to study it yet. I hope as the months go on I will be able to, at least do a basic portrait of someone, anyone.
Been doodling after reading through my Nathan Fowkes book on charcoal portraits. Looks like I had similar inspiration to Tessa and Denise. Very nice work, both. I’ll just add one of my own of no particular person. Charcoal on cartridge paper.
Oh wow, that's brilliant Ron, I might have to have a look at that book. I've taken a note of it. I don't have much experience myself but that looks great.
Thanks, Denise. Yes, it is a good book that describes various methods one of which is the Reilly method and the one I was using for the above doodle. The book also has a section that describes typical mistakes and goes through several student critiques, one being Nathan Fowkes himself when he was a student.
Great portraits everyone, must look up the book you mentioned Ron.  I would really like to try portraits, my confidence is lacking in this area though. Mines a quick sketch in readiness for my online art class today.
Well, here it is the final table of the 6 Nations painting challenge.  it has been a long while since it started. All we wait for now is the judges to have their say, and as in any good painting Competition this might not be the final order.

Haha Alan, excellent and yes it does seem a long time since the 6 Nations started. I think Saturday was a bit of a damp squib and could have been done without. My hubby being Welsh, wasn’t happy! Some really good portrait sketching as well, good to see. I had to drop something off at a saddlery for my daughter and stopped after to do this sketch at the side of the road from my car as it was blowing a gale. Just as I thought I’d finished, two pheasants strolled into the scene so I added them. Hope you can see them, didn’t want too much detail.
Well November has certainly started well with all the lovely sketches. My offering today is by way of an experiment, I was at the hospital today after month of waiting due to the lady lockdown. My appointment was to see the hand therapist and have some gloves fitted to support my hands. I have just tried out a quick sketch and watercolour wash, I’m finding that I need to practice as my grip is different and so is the movement of my hands. I don’t want to work on the painting I’m doing at present until I feel a bit more confident. Here is the test sketch and the painting I’m working on, which I think will be a little bit longer before I finish it off,.
Well I think they are both really good Paul!
