I tried to upload a painting today, same as ever. I keep getting an "error" message about file size being too big. I've reduced the picture half a dozen times and am still getting the same message. After putting up over a thousand images, never as sale items, I'm a bit fed up. It makes me not want to bother.

What an amazing development and so much work. Well done POL team for a sterling effort. It might have been mentioned before but why are the first comments on a painting, in the gallery, showing last and the last comments showing first. We get to read the artist's reply before we read the initial comment. EG
* "Thank you very much"
* "nice work".
I've also noticed that the paintings in "My Art" are thumbnail size, even if I open them for another look/read. The comments have also gone, although I see they can be retrieved by clicking on the artist. Minor points, I'm sure, and sorry if I'm repeating some points. Just about to upload an image so here's hoping.

Jim, I don't know what you use to prepare your pictures to upload to POL. I think you said you use PAINT. I use Photoshop, where it's simple to change image size and it tells you instantly what the file size will be. You can upload UP TO 6 mb. I've had a look at PAINT it does allow you to resize, but doesn't give the final file size...which is not that helpful.
I upload just under 6 mb on the new website. Out of interest I downloaded the POL image of my latest post just to see how big it was. Quite interesting. The file I uploaded was just under 6mb, POL's image was 1.34 MB. They'd reduced the resolution to 96 pixels/inch, but increased the actual pixel size (as compared to my upload). But it look fine, I think the new site does give better images.
So what can you do? If you find the file using the windows file system then right click on the THUMBNAIL image and select 'properties' from the list (right at the bottom on my PC). Once in 'properties' select 'details' (near the top), that will tell you the RESOLUTION in pixels/inch, the pixel size, and the file size. Once you know that, you can go back into PAINT, select 'resize', select 'pixels' and you can alter them. (Maybe you're doing this already.) Save it (add a '2' to the file name, so you still have the original), then right click on that file in windows to get the file size.
You'll probably have to experiment a little. Somebody else may have a better solution...I'm not techy enough...I use the floundering about method.
This might be worth a try (always save the resized file with a different name...add a 2 for example...that way you won't mess up your original...important.)
Confusing, isn't it?

"Love your new profile picture Marjorie, my only bug at the moment is I still can't get into the site via my mobile, Rachel said to change my password from my laptop, but i'm frightened if I do that I might not get back in ". Linda, I haven't tried to log on via mobile - don't dare! Also, my computer will not accept my password/ e mail yet my i pad does! I won't bother Dawn with it yet. Oh, and despite not logging out , I have to log in each time. Enough is working for me at the moment though. Marjorie.
