Beautiful day to be out sketching. Two studies here from the Carrington / Sherwood side of Nottingham. Winsor & Newton Promarkers in Hobbycraft Daler Rowney A4 sketchbook. Direct observation. No pencil guide lines; keep it fresh. I like the tonal one, but have decided colour Promarkers are far too intense. I won’t be going back to them.
Good figure work Dixie, you should do more! Ian two good sketches. I also prefer the tonal one. Beautiful day, lucky you, it’s been blowing a gale here all day, thought the greenhouse was going to lift off at one stage! So for me I’ve continued with my sketch project of putting together scenes from previous walks recently. Pen and a mix of watercolour, inks and Tombow pens, just starting to add colour.
Hi Tessa. Yes, certainly windy, but once in a sheltered spot not too bad.
Thank you Dixie for your comment and haha Tessa I don’t know when I am going to be upright .. I tried everything and doesn’t seem to work whereas in the gallery I am alright.. only this sketch thread all this happens and thanks again for the comment..
Two excellent sketches Ian whilst I think both are good, I do have a preference for the mono sketch. That’s. Starting to come together Tessa, will look good when finished. A second offering from me, I find that these quick watercolour sketches suit me at the moment, pen added after painting.
Dixie, love the Indian figures! People are not my strong point!, I was in India a few years ago so much I would love to paint but no confidence to have a go! I might have a shot after seeing yours! Ian I like the tonal sketch too! In fact folks I am impressed with all the work! I haven’t done anything over the past few days but plan to sit and do something I photographed on my dog walk this morning!

Lovely to see this thread is getting new members.  Lots of lovely work.   I've been battling with an acrylic painting of Robert Rinder (not very successful) and with some other stuff so not been on PoL much.   Having another wee break from this thread for a while but will pop in occasionally (still either sketching or painting every day, just not posting it).
Glad you have popped in Margaret, had not seen anything from you for a while and was wondering if you were ok, mystery solved. Hope you painted goes well.
Today is a part complete watercolour sketch of a Hawker Hunter aircraft, having the armourer’s replace the gun pack. I this is my first attempt at an aircraft, and have not tried to make it a detailed drawing. Still some work to do.

Liking the plane Dixie! This sketching is taxing me, however will continue to try in different mediums!  Today  I tried watercolour   ‘sketch ’  outside however it dried so fast as really hot here today! I have done a quick pastel of my hot tub.  Not great but First try with pastels ( cheap ones ) not sure I like getting my hands so dirty! 😂
Both look good, that’s the problem with watercolour, even here it dries out to quick on a hot day. I do like pastel drawings but I’m a. Bit useless with them, partly because of the mess there is some excellent artists in the gallery who do superb work with them. Just keep practicing drawing anything that you can in all mediums.
