That's going really well Dixie.
Thank you Margaret, I do like the drawing when it’s at this stage, I’ve developed the habit of adding some shade areas as it lifts the drawing I think. I was thinking of doing a couple of sketches with a little more detail and adding the shade in watercolour,  e good to get some feedback on that idea.
Thanks Margaret and Paul.. the painting is taking a good shape I guess Paul.. look forward to it in the gallery.. The teddy sketch is quite good Margaret.. Thanks Robert yes it is v ambitious indeed.. long held wish and when I embarked a try I decided I will simplify it and there I go..
Your drawing is quite detailed Dixie already and the initial shading looks fine to me. With oils it’s usual to add your ‘darkest darks’ first but I’m not much use advising on watercolour! There are others here as you know who will give you excellent advice  on that. This is another quick sketch today of a black and white cow which possibly looks more like a horse at least around the head! Must try harder.
Staring a watercolour with darks first does not normally work, however I only do the shadows that I know I will not try to lighten. It one of those quirky things that I’ve cot into the habitat of. Feeling a bit guilty about not doing a sketch today, so I am adding this , pencil and water soluble pencil blended for the shadows.

Cows are tricky!   Not your best Tessa but still very good!  That has worked very well in ws pencil Dixie.  Here is a sketch I did of Robert Rinder from #PAOTW today- A2 fountain pen.
Wow that good Margaret, I’m not to good at portraits and tend to avoid them. Sorry Tessa I missed your cow 🤔it’s definitely a 👍cow , I can tell these things by the bits hanging underneath.
Hi there, I am Gill and currently live in Spain.  Am really enjoying your wonderful sketches! I took up painting about 11 years ago when I retired. I love it but lost my mojo about 4 years ago.  Since been diagnosed as having Parkinson’s and my  confidence has taken a bashing. My daughter got me a subscription for Leisure Painter hoping to kick start me. Which it has. I am not great at sketching but practice makes perfect ( or at least improves it! )
Welcome to the forum Gillian sorry to hear about your health I think anyone’s confidence would did after that. You sketch I really good , don’t knock yourself. Be nice if you join us as and when you can, don’t forget to put stuff on the gallery as well. We are quite a friendly bunch, and there is a lot of skill and knowledge to tap into as well.
Welcome Gillian, your geranium is lovely.
Margaret I missed your Rob Rinder, very good likeness. I watched the beginning but didn’t even attempt him, might look again in the week. Not an easy one I think! Dixie thank you for noticing the dangly bits on my cow, and another good lorry sketch from you.
Have not done a sketch today as having new blinds fitted throughout, so I have concentrated on my painting of the truck I posted the other day. Might do some sketching later.
