Alan, what a beautiful, peaceful scene to look out on! Must make the lockdown a lot easier to cope with. We live on the outskirts of a town on the edge of the Surrey Hills - the river’s close by and we also have herons visiting our pond each year. Having lost a good half of our fish the year before last, we finally stopped their fishing expeditions by putting a net over the pond - now we’ve got rather too many fish, they breed like crazy. This is our pond and patio area - I’d been planning to give the pond its usual spring clean up, but we have robins nesting in the ivy just outside our kitchen window and won’t really be able to do much work at this end of the garden until the little ones have fledged in a couple of weeks time. In the meantime, I’m taking the opportunity to get on with some more painting - and spending (too much!) time on this site.
Re the Corona drinks, I read recently that they’ve stopped selling Corona beer in the States at the moment because people are associating it with the virus and are no longer buying it - daft, isn’t it?

I have to admit I can't settle to anything. Having art as an interest is a great boon in these days, but despite the extra time to do it, I'm doing less. I think I'll shelve my planned projects until things improve. The real world is too grim at the moment, so I think I'll settle for fantasy stuff to keep me going artwise.
My son's over the coronavirus, it lasted about 7 days. One odd thing is that he's lost his sense of smell and taste, other co-workers said the same thing happened to them. Things are pretty grim at the care home where he works, but he's been told to take a week off to recuperate. He should have had a test to confirm he's had it, and that it's now clear. They are trying to get one for him...no luck so far...put that idea in the 'fat-chance-department.'
For all their talk, the government are treating the care sector badly. Everybody knew from the start of this that older people with pre-existing health problems are most at risk. And where are they? In care homes, or being treated in their own homes by care workers. Every day on the news they say they aren't getting the support they need.
I guess the government can't cope, but you'd never think that from their daily news bulletins.
Anyway...gripe over...take care of yourselves.

Good to hear that your son is feeling better Lewis. Care homes do seem to be having a ghastly time of it. It’s a tough job at the best of times.
I think a lot of us are struggling to get anything arty done at the moment. I just about manage my daily sketch still. Sometimes we can have too much time, we think we’ll do wonders but it just doesn’t happen.
Did a lot more clearing and tidying of the ‘studio’ yesterday, trying to make space and to be more organised!
By the way I never received your message, not that it matters, but in case you think I ignored it.

I think that you are right Tessa, we have time to do painting etc but sometimes it can be to much, we ponder on things more.
I’m finding that small projects are ok, you can do it put it down and move on, I started several bigger things and very soon lost interest. I have decided to be more organised and have a set time to see if that works.

Not a bad idea Paul, I’m ‘forcing’ myself (well not quite) to be up and running in my studio by 8am. That’s an hour or so later than it used to be.
Early-ish mornings suit me better for painting, I generally set myself a time of say a couple of hours or so, that does me at the moment.
I haven’t posted anything on the gallery though, doesn’t seem a lot of point as its gone flat - it will of course pick up again at some point.

Glad I'm not the only one. It's frustrating because there's lots of things I want to try, but just can't motivate myself. I have some oils and acrylic, and would like to give that a try. Carole's painted with watercolor on canvas, I didn't think it could be done. Ages ago, someone bought me a few canvases, I won't use them, I prefer a board for oil and acrylic. But I could have a dabble with watercolor. At the moment, I just sit down and draw anything, hoping I can work it into something.
I forgot to tell you Tessa...POL have given up on that email, so you won't get it. It was just me acknowledging yours. Some glitch in the system, I suppose.

Hello everyone, yes I think you are right about motivation Lew, mainly I think its because there are other things to think about at the moment, like an hours chat on our family chat line first thing after breakfast to make sure we are all fine, followed by a bit of routine housework, a walk round the village, perhaps some time spent in garden while its fine, grocery shopping on line when you can get a slot!!! sometimes that's first thing on a morning or last thing at night, in the meantime there's meals to prepare, doesn't seem a lot of time for painting at the moment, doesn't leave much time to get bored, another day of lockdown nearly gone!!! Stay well everyone and don't let this virus get you down.
