One of my favourite birds , when I lived in Suffolk I used to see huge flocks of Lapwings in the fields and on the airfield but apparently there are far less about now . I’ve had a very positive start to the new year after a very long wait Ive had treatment on my hand with successful reductions in the pain level and more movement, it’s certainly awakened my urge to paint and sketch.
This is one of the three or do I’ve set up to paint.

Don't go mad with it and strain your hand - but using our various parts is probably the key to keeping them in working order. I've painted nothing, with a capital NOTHING, since just before New Year's Day; watched an inspirational video on YouTube just now - which I normally avoid assiduously - a US painter who suggested that what stops us is so filling our lives and time with things that we don't even think about getting down to what makes us tick and justifies our existence. You may think that's perfectly obvious, but I just hadn't thought of it: I've been squirming in frustration and doing nothing about it because I didn't understand its cause. Stupid old fool..... anyway, thanks to taking that in, I've produced my first pen and ink sketch of the year which I'll turn into a small painting, or possibly even several; and I've unearthed my 2022 sketchbooks and found half a dozen sketches that should make good paintings.
It's highly ironic of course that what stopped me painting was automatically turning the computer on every morning and keeping it on, but then finding the advice I needed to pour the Linseed oil out on that very internet which has been swallowing my time to unproductive effect. But then, I am bonkers....

All artistic people are a little bonkers Robert ,probably a requirement, it’s good to know your picking up and dusting off the cobwebs. Someone told me a couple of weeks back that I should get a interesting hobby to pass the time , without been rude I explained that watercolour painting was a hobby as was gardening, walking and several other things like reading etc. One very red faced lady’s answer was “ oh how do you find time to do all that “.
