Sketch of cliffs however not a good photo
Here's one I did this afternoon in charcoal, which I've just begun trying out. It's pretty rough and I needed to finish it with oil pastels to highlight the gorse bushes, which I was struggling with. I think I'll use it as a study for a painting or proper oil pastel.

That's a little weird. I just did a sketch of cliffs too (below). I like this one though. Compositionally, it's very strong. Are you going to work some more or is that it finished? I found the rocks quite hard to draw accurately with charcoal (I did mine from an old photograph). I'd have been better starting with a pencil.
Rocks don't need to be accurate Gillian...just to look like rocks, these are a magnificent size, get a bit bolder with your charcoal and use your fingers for directional lines.  Then sharpen up the craggy bits and angles. Are these local to you ? Nice contrast Bill and what a windy day , the yellow gorse looks good. Coincidence or what.
Nice cliffs, but why are we doing cliffs when we are meant to be doing irises?  A bit early for irises though.
Because this is sketch a day topic and February challenge is set by POL in monthly challenges 😀think you have just got a bit confused Linda!

As Gillian says it's the Feb challenge based on early blues and violets...I quite agree Linda ,Feb is Snowdrops, Daffs , Catkins etc. I had decided in my head that the POL team were living in a much warmer climate than me here in n Wales. Oh the odd primrose and Camellia is out.   Go with the Flow, I'm sure you are enjoying even more exotic stuff.
Back in sunny Devon, I have not even seen a snowdrop yet.  My camellias are not out yet either.  Back to the winter blues.
Oh Wales is full of them...welcome home.  Lucky lady.
Well here in Orkney the weather is stormy and wet VERY wet! I have just been sketching/drawing my youngest daughter I have used pencil .
What a pretty girl  Gill
This is the sketch I did tonight. It's the Callinish Stones on the Isle of Lewis, rendered in charcoal. I'm using stones for practice, as I'm not used to charcoal.
