No sketches from me today, Ive the decorators in and they’re sloshing a different type of paint about. My work space is somewhat compromised and its a bit chilly for an excursion out to sketch. Some lovely sketches though from you all. Katy the one of your pony is beautiful. Really Denise, I agree with the others you have a natural talent, don’t be hard on yourself. Gillian I like the pomegranates, I used to have a parrot called Lulu who loved these but you can imagine the mess she made!

Well I’m just catching up with this conversation, of pomegranates, ponies, parrots, and some lovely divers! Denise yes you do have a talent, those figures are really good. As artists we do like to beat ourselves up and criticise our work - never good enough, but I suppose that’s how we improve!
Now I’m going to get some inks out and will add my effort later!

Denise and Tessa in reply to your comments about art groups. We have the Midlands Arts Centre in Birmingham which runs art classes but unfortunately it is closed till next year. I went to a couple of introductory classes there years ago and would do something similar again. More than that, I would like to find an art group just to be with others who enjoy painting. Also Denise, as I think I have mentioned before, you DO have natural talent!

Diane I think unfortunately a lot of classes are closed at present or on hold . There are some online courses you could look at but art wise I think your work is very original and different. I remember someone telling me he went to a class before ours where everyone was expected to paint the same scene such as a country cottage and they were expected to look the same! I don’t think that would help any of us. We mostly do our own thing and there is no tuition just exchange of ideas etc. Normally we have a professional in once a term or so to do a days demo which is good, but won’t be happening this term.
These are some leaves I picked up this morning with a few acorns. Ink and watercolour. Pencil sketch also.

Katy There are many things in Orkney that I have missed here in Spain, especially my family. But I will Miss being in Spain too, however I will be coming back for extended holidays once we have a handle on Covid so the best of both worlds. I like your sketch and painting Tessa, autumn is such a beautiful season and full of inspiration.

Hi Gillian and Denise
Thanks for your warm welcomes a few days ago. Apologies, I'm a bit out of sync with the time differences so I'm not usually online when the rest of you are. Hugely impressed by the wealth of talent that is on display here and everyone has a point of difference in their artwork which I love. Thanks also for handy hints on how to upload. I'm not a user of the usual platforms so always feel like a newbie when trying to partake in discussions etc.

Good morning all, so did actually get to have a quick wander to get this sketch of a rather fine Georgian terrace (excuse the perspective I know its off) we have in the town. The lights were just coming on and the lamppost had just come on too. We have several of these around that have been restored and are now locally listed so have to be maintained. So a really lovely twilight scene that I hope to do justice to in possibly acrylic or water colour can’t decide At the mo.
