Oxfam art - it's whatever you want it to be - but my own take is the sort of art painted by retired people who, on looking for a hobby on retirement, join a local art group and never use a brush larger than a No6.
The results are seen in local Art Club Shows where they are praised by bald heads and cauliflower hairdos but are rarely, if ever, seen in Art Society Shows, Galleries or Museums. 😊😂🤣

In defence of local art clubs, I would just like to say that the local art clubs in my area have some very talented, successful artists, some of whom are professional or semi-professional and others have had work accepted for inclusion in Mall Gallery exhibitions and other London galleries, some are also SGFA members. Describing the work of art club members as Oxfam Art is a little insulting, I think most art clubs have moved on from those days!

I think there are lots of clubs and societies exactly as Jenny describes ,but I know exactly what Michael means , there are a lot of happy people who take up a “ new” hobby they enjoy the time they spend with other like minded people . They are having fun....create abominations and press them onto family and friends and have a feel good time.
Just looked in the mirror and I’m now wondering if I qualify for a Cauliflower hair do.

Sorry, Michael, I probably over-reacted a bit, but there are people who do still have that view of local art clubs - at my local art club exhibitions we often get comments like ‘We didn’t expect to see work like this outside of the London galleries!’ (I do, though, know of a local art class where a lot of elderly people only paint once a week at the class and produce just the type of stuff you referred to!)
