I always made the forum first port of call.  Now I find it an unhappy place ,  it’s great to see everyone who still visits and communicates.  But, since we all discussed the new website it’s  gone down hill at a rapid rate of knots . It has been in the doldrums before ( please note all my nautical terminology) . But there are so few of us.  Where is everybody ? . It seems that people don’t know the forum exists. Back to my boats , it’s a bit like the Marie Celeste , .  It would be great to get back to our pithy ,scintillating conversations.

I think the changes put everybody on the back foot, Sylvia, and with Christmas round the corner a lull isn't that unusual, at least not on the poetry sites I visit. Having said that, things do see to have dropped off a tad. Maybe once we all get used to the changes it will pick up again.
It is a bit quiet, but I've just returned to it.  What we need is new topics!
It's the same on my poetry sites - very slow but I do think the new layout is having an effect.
Michael   ,I agree the new layout isn’t as conducive as the old site .  Wonder if it’s that bloody Brexit ? 😊

I think Sylvia has made a very valid point, that many people who use the Gallery don’t actually go further than that, and don’t find the Forum. Most don’t seem to find the blogs either, as very few ever comment on those. Maybe something for PO team to look at, encouraging people in? I always read the forum discussions, but don’t necessarily join in unless I feel I have something useful to contribute! Also maybe we could do with a monthly challenge on this as well? Tessa
I have used the forum less of late as I tend to respond to topics posted rather than start new topics myself. There have been fewer topics to respond to therefore less posts. Not sure the new layout is responsible or just a general apathy to forums in general.
Morning folks, the forum is always the first thing I look at but like Tessa don't always join in if I don't feel I can contribute to a particular topic. Don't think some site users are bothered about using the forum, they don't acknowledge comments so they aren't going to come and join us here.  Linda
Like Linda, I always look at the forum when I first log in each morning but don’t often contribute unless it’s something of specific interest - it can be quite time-consuming and I’d rather spend time looking through and commenting on the gallery pages.   PS. Must be time for the December challenge soon?!
Just one other point, I had to go to the Forum to ‘subscribe ‘ to this thread this morning as didn’t get an email when Sylv started it. This happens on a new or resurrected older thread, so I wouldn’t see it if I didn’t go looking. Is that just me? It would be helpful if you could just have the option to subscribe to all of the Forum, then you’d automatically be notified of all new posts.
Possibly some of us are fighting a general election, as well - probably not many, but I am.  Actually - perhaps it's just me.... But the forum has always gone up and down in popularity - blogs even more so.  It's not exactly pulsating with life at the moment, but anything could send a jolt through it: a question, a controversial opinion, an event .... something will turn up.
I’ve just added a new subject so hopefully that will kick start a little discussion. Tessa
