I’ve thought I would bring the thread back up and post this sketch that I have done for a painting . Having a terrible itch at the moment to paint ships and boats , rather than ignore it I’ve decided to indulge my passion for marine painting unfortunately I now want to do more complex scenes hence the attached.
Looking good Paul,  l do like ships (and bricks). Interesting to see the finished work..
Thank you Bari for your kind words, yes I know you like your bricks and you do a fine job of them too. Alan Bickley sent me a photo of the trawler he dis a sketch of , this is my humble attempt done on 12 minutes approx with 6B pencil in my marine sketchbook same boat to different approaches. The other two boat were drawn in roughly twenty minutes again in the marine sketchbook.
Excellent work, Dixie. I do think your absolutely right, when a subject gives you inspiration take it with both hands and scratch that itch.
Thank you Carol . 5B pencil sketch in my Marine sketchbook, butty time on the docks , everything stops .
Nice to see some avid sketchers keeping the thread going! I am in Spain which is no excuse!!
Oh to be in Spain- sun & heat ! Good sketch Gillian ... we had the central heating on yesterday! Here's a 20 minute sketch of a tree stump I did on Wednesday.
I live in Orkney and my daughter informed me that three days ago the temp was. 4 degrees!!! Not looking forward to going back in a couple of weeks time!

Nice set of sketches Gill, like the tree stump sketch Andrew. A couple of figures sketched in my marine sketch book using a 6B graphite stick. I need more practice with figure and I  always have difficulty with the faces  the reason I don’t do portrait work .

Last week, during a mighty thunderstorm in Murcia, roads were turned into rivers with cars and cafe furniture being swept away.  Today at 10 a.m local time the temperature is 24 degrees centigrade.  bring on the ice cream!
