Paul, as Margaret says, it's a lovely watercolour. I find it hard to look at something like this ( yes, I know it's nature and hawks have to live too ) but even when I was little I couldn't bear to watch " Lassie" films - anything which involves animals - wildlife films, the lot! Oh!! Johnny May just scored a brilliant try again!

It's not the kind of work, some, can handle, Marjorie, and I do empathise with you. I see things like this many times, crows mobbing the mighty buzzards, feathers everywhere.
Even the painting Dixie has depicted, but this time the hawk swooping in to take a starling, I'll never forget the sound of the starling being carried off into the distance.
I do like honest nature paintings such as this, its the way of nature.
Your comment reminds me of my sister, she's exactly the same, Marjorie :)
That beak is definitely not one of a wood pigeon :)

Love the pen and wash Tessa, great little mouse peeping out, cones are difficult to draw, so well done on that Christopher and a lovely squirrel, like both flower versions Anjana, have a feeling I might have left someone but if I go back a page i'll lose my script so apologies if I have. I enjoyed sketching today but it doesn't look much like Its supposed to be but its practice. Love my electric eraser that I got for a Christmas present, its ideal for creating shadows. Any guesses who!! No prizes!!! think it looked better before I put too much detail in.Linda, a question about Bogey - did you put an ink wash on the face before you finished off with pencil?![]()

Paul, of course you haven't upset me! It's a skilful watercolour - I was just saying, in passing, that I find it hard to watch. It happens in the garden and it happened at a nature reserve when I was there, a herring gull killed a diving duck and took its time finishing it off. It's something that I accept as part of nature, don't worry about it, I'm always oversensitive when it comes to animals.😊

I’m so pleased that I have not upset you Marjorie, I can understand how you feel, as my wild and eldest daughter are just the same. It’s sad that we just accept some scenes, and don’t give it a thought, sadly more people are accepting violent scenes as the norm these day and I don’t mean natural one,

I see it’s been a busy day here. We've been in London visiting daughter and her partner, lovely but too many hours on the road!
So today I’m not going to comment individually and I’m going to cheat and post another piece from my workshop yesterday! Pen over wash.
