I appreciate that Robert. Sylvia, your sketch is amazing.
Charcoal sketch done yesterday.
A lovely sketch Denise .
Some great sketching and sketch paintings, the standard keeps on improving every time I dip in. spacial mention to Denise, who has come a long way.  just thought I would add my little pic of Orford castle. Drawn with black and whit pens on toned paper.
More great sketches - gel pens,  Alan? The charcoal sketch could easily be an Old Master (compliments can go so wrong: I'm not saying Denise is old, or a Master - though perhaps that's better than Old Mistress: language is full of snares for the unwary): moving rapidly on - is that one of the coloured charcoals you can get now, Denise?  I've not yet moved on from black, but do use conté in the traditional colours of black, white, sanguine, and bistre - did you use a toned paper?  It's worked so well, whatever you used.
Thanks very much Alan and what a lovely drawing you have Done. Robert, It's black charcoal but the paper is toned. I haven't tried the coloured charcoals.

Just a black drawing pen fine nib, and white Posca pen.
Lovely drawings Denise and Alan, I use the tinted charcoal pencils and quite like the subtle colours. I have done a charcoal sketch of a horse another out of the comfort zone  subject

Well I started with good intentions to sketch every day however life got in the way! Used gouache for the first time on Friday at our art group. I am keen to explore them more and see there is an article about them in the latest Artist magazine. Anyway in the absence of sketches from me I am posting my boat that I started for art group project
It looks as if this medium suits you well.  There aren't that many articles or books about it, are there...?  Or at least, I haven't encountered them.  I don't use gouache much, or I'd try writing an article on it myself: how about it, Alan Bickley?  I'm sure you use it and could teach us all a thing or two.
Yes I think I could quite like gouache Robert. Here’s a quick inktense sketch of a Venice scene as prep for Friday’s art group that I facilitate. Our theme this week is Venice
There’s a very informative article by Kevin Scully on using gouache in the latest (November) issue of The Artist.
