I'm curious to know if anyone has signed up to either of these yet, or still thinking about it? The main item which would appeal to me is the Archive option to see previous issues and articles in The Artist magazine. I’m not too bothered by The Wall, as I feel I can save anything I’m interested in on my iPad if needed, though I can see the advantage of having a specific home for it. The TV option I’m not sure about. Surely more than enough on YouTube, though again maybe this would be targeted at us, so could be good. POL team, join in if you see this! Let us know how it’s looking from your point of view! Tessa
Hi Tessa,. I've considered all options and have just signed up . Seems good for me instead of flipping from YouTube etc, sounds as though it's going to be very useful...( Im Looking forward to the goody bag so I can experiment even more...for the time being😀)
Not yet. Maybe, one day. Youtube has shedloads of stuff for what I do. For POL to attract users it will need to offer palpably more relevant material. I'm sure POL has access to that kind of presenter so I'm happy to look at it again later.
"Not", probably. I haven't really looked into what it means, but my experience with most things art over the past 3 decades, is that I am never the one who benefits from advertising, Google-ads, subscriptions, membership fees, handling fees, entry fees, car park fees, stall holder fees, etc., and yet without the artist's paintings being there in the first place, it would all collapse...
Not sure what the 'Studio' is, but might look into it.
Hi, Hope everyone is enjoying their free trial of the new Studio facilities. Just to say that the video content on Studio TV is being made exclusively by us for members only - none of it will be available elsewhere. We currently have content from Tim Fisher to share with you and Jenny Aitken is joining Sally for a full day of filming next week. Look out for Paul Hopkinson soon too! Our regular bonus features, written by our very own PO artists, will now be part of the Studio benefits along with the Wall, digital archives and the ability to offer your work for sale. As Studio grows we will be introducing special offers on books and art materials too, so watch this space! Dawn
Thank you Dawn! I think some of us are just waiting and watching at the mo.
Are you making the most of your free trial Tessa?
Possibly not! I will have another look at it all. I do think as regards the art for Sale section it would be good to have a way of changing the date order, maybe randomly, and being able to skip pages as mentioned before. Last time I looked there were maybe 30 or so pages and you had to scroll through a page at a time. Perhaps something you could look at to encourage people to use. I also think that somewhere potential buyers need to be able to see a price without asking.
I agree that a price should be stated, I did think that this was under consideration! There’s a lot more to this new site than I first thought. Basically, I haven’t really had time to look at all the new features but have spent an hour or so going through it all earlier. I’ve got stuck or confused with a few things and Dawn has kindly helped me sort them out. I’ve now started my own boards which is actually quite useful plus subscribed to a few interesting features that are available. There’s great features by top artists such as Ken Howard and Fred Cuming, to name a just a couple. It does take some time Tessa, but you may also find a few things to interest you.
If it requires another subscription over and above my existing subscription to the magazine I'll pass.
I’m not entirely sure Peter, apart from using the For Sale feature which will require a subscription.
