Happy Easter everyone, I thought as it’s a long weekend we would have  a extra bonus . I have selected a man and wife team of artists , Dame Laura Knight 1877-1970 and her husband Harold Knight  1874- 1962. I will start off with Dame Laura and add Harold’s work tomorrow. I particularly like her war time artwork as a ex service man they appeal to military side of me . I hope Enjoy both of them . M

Not familiar with Harold Knight’s work but am with Dame Laura’s - we had an art club talk on her a while ago - and was going to suggest you added her to your list.  These are my two favourites of her paintings - The Beach and A Dark Pool.

Dame Laura Knight was connected to Nottingham, she went to the Nottingham College of Art at a very young age. I like her war paintings and this one of Ruby Loftus really stands out for me.
Excellent choice Jenny I particularly like the first one , the light is almost blinding I can feel myself squint slightly. Ellen you have picked one of my favourite, the detailing on the lath is just so good and a great tribute to all the women who stepped up and in for the men who went to war. I find she is one of those artist that you don’t have an actual favourite paint , but just admire and wish you could do as well I suppose everyone is a favourite in its own way.  Both artists  are fairly new to me and are two of the long list that I have discovered whist working on the thread, great fun researching , something I haven’t really done a lot of.
I’m not familiar with her husband’s paintings, but this is a favourite of Laura Knight’s work. Lamorna Cove 1935. Just look at those reflections in the water! If I’m not mistaken she was a member of the famous Newlyn School, started by Stanhope Forbes… another fabulous painter!
This is quite a stunning painting Alan . I will add Stanhope Forbes to the list as well, thank you for recommending him.
I do like Laura Knight’s work very much, but didn’t realise her husband was an artist. Here’s one well known one which I think is stunning. And a couple more I found earlier This is of a hospital patient. And another sea shore painting. I do like the way she generally painted a view looking down on the sea.

Dame Laura Knight's work, I did come across it about a year ago and thought it was wonderful. Romany Belles. I really like this painting. My favourites have already been posted. A Dark Pool and The Balloon Site, Coventry. This is another smasher, Corporal J M Robins.
I love Laura Knight’s work and Stanhope Forbes too.
Harold Night, I think produces some absolutely stunning portraits, I have concentrated my selection on his portrait rather than his other work . The light in all of his painting is so beautifully done, as is the detailing of the features,  difficult to select just a few as there are so many to choose from, hope you enjoy a much as I did.
Love your selection, Paul, especially the first two.  I also prefer his portraits.  These are a couple I have chosen, the first is of Dame Laura sketching.
