Some amazing watercolour artists, Lewis.  The only name I knew was David Curtis but, like yourself, I’m drawn to colour and fantasy work.  There are so many really skilful watercolourists these days, it’s hard to believe some of their work is actually painted in watercolour.  Of those above I especially like Jeanne Vodden and Helen Nelson Reed.  (We have another brilliant watercolourist coming up later this month, Chris Krupinski.)

Yes, a good rendition of the lady's grey hair and also the wrinkles of aged skin. The girl with the jar of fireflies this is a lovely representation of a particular situation, that look on her face . . .

Pure dazzling talent at work Lew. Far too many to choose individually. Compare these with American artist CY Twombly (deceased), who I found quite by accident. How do they get away with it?

I don't know that artist Jenny.  I won't look him/her up, I prefer to wait and see.  Carol, the 'firefly' painting is a favourite, the young girl's expression just right. I too stumbled across that artist Jim.  Not to my taste.  But there will be some who rave about him.  Art is big enough for everything it seems.  Each to his own.  I prefer to save my bewilderment for HOW WELL some people can paint. On the subject of bewilderment, I'm often bewildered by how big or how small some people can paint.  Here are two watercolour extremes...both utterly beyond my skills.....
Thank you Lew, a wonderful selection of fantastic watercolour painters, none of which I'd never heard of. They take the medium to new heights.  Not sure if their skill is inspirational or just damn depressing 😪
I know what you mean Andrew, it sometimes has me thinking 'why do I bother?'  But I bother because I have to,  and who knows, the next one might be the picture I've always hoped I could paint.  Looking at all these works makes me feel I ought to be doing something.   Contradictions there.
What a great selection of artists Lewis. What talent in using watercolour. I’ve just spent a very enjoyable, if not envious, hour watching some of them on YouTube. Many thanks for bringing them to our attention.
Where to look first , what to say.....utterly beautiful thanks so much Lew for showing all of these  I have just bought a larger iPad as the mini I have used for years was becoming untenable for me.  I am SO GLAD I have ,.just seen them all  so well....thank you Lew , thank you new iPad .
Thank you Christine and Sylvia, I'm glad you're enjoying these artists.  I know the feeling Sylvia, I need to use a desktop pc with a large screen. The next artist is Steve Hanks an American artist who died recently.   I find Steve Hank's work astonishing, apparently he learned to paint with oils at art college, then shifted to watercolour, but uses the techniques learned with oils to paint his watercolours.  This seems odd to me, but my knowledge of working in oils is limited to a few paintings and thought it very different to watercolour.  What do I know?  I consider this artist to be a master in this medium. Sometime today, I'm getting my internet changed to a new provider, so I may not be able to respond for a while.
Lew you have certainly entertained us with your support presentation and choice of artists . I had no previous knowledge of any of the featured artists, I have and will spend the week looking at their artwork in more detail on line . The artists are excellent and definitely some of the best I have ever seen, but your presentation of their work is a work of art in its self and certainly makes the journey more pleasant. Thank you .
Not sure I like all of Mr Hanks work but one cannot do other than admire his skill and technique.  The girl on the trunk waiting in the rain is my favourite by a long way.
Agree with all the Steve Hanks comments having relevance (the girl waiting in the rain is my favourite too) . The main thing is this man was an artist totally talented and in charge of his work. Totally photographic representation isn't my favourite art form, nor is totally portrait work, but skill cannot be denied and Seve Hanks work is bursting with it.
