Lew this is without doubt on of the best threads we have had for such a long time , it’s a real treat looking at your choice of artists . I honestly could not pick a favourite as I change my mind every time I look . I hope that by suggesting the week I haven’t caused you to much work and stress getting it all so beautifully done , I do genuinely mean it when I say I can’t thank you enough for the introductions. It’s one of the few  weeks since starting this series that I have sat back and enjoyed not been involved other than as a spectator.
Thank you Dixie.  In this case it wasn't much work because I already had the images on my PC.  Once in a while I stick them on a USB stick and look at them on my big TV screen.  I add any interesting info at the time I make the files...the old memory isn't so great these days.  I haven't done a lot of of pure watercolour lately (mostly only to block in large areas of colour, then using coloured pencils), but looking through these old files again has made me want to try ago.  My old hands aren't so good with a brush, that's why it's mostly coloured pencils for me now.  When I get the time I'll have a go...nothing to lose...only time and a bit of paper. We all appreciate the effort you put into this series.
I’ll second that!
Me too!
Would not work without you all supporting it and helping out with suggestions etc. I do hope despite your hands being a problem that you do get some watercolour work done. My left hand is almost as good as it ever was since surgery a month ago, the main problem is I forget thst I can now use it. Feel a bit daft when I’m hoeing the garden one handed and then look at my left hand and think to my self , bloody fool and use both .
A brilliant selection of artists and paintings Lewis, so many of them have the 'wow factor' (dreadful phrase) it's impossible to pick out a favourite. And yes Dixie, a big 'thank you' to you for facilitating the series, it's an absolute joy.
Most of these artists were new to me back then, but, of course, many famous artists use watercolour.  Here's a few I like, but this thread is really about modern watercolourists. First Van Gogh...a favourite... Next Anders Zorn...he of the famous palette... A sunlit painting by Winslow Homer... The very famous Andrew Wyeth.  I prefer his egg-tempera work (astounding), but he did many fine watercolours.... Karl Larsson.   Very famous in his day, for his art and his lifestyle, which he illustrated in hugely successful books.  He was an excellent portrait painter in watercolour.  I did a piece on him in the forum a while back. Later...if you're still with me...more modern artists.
I have to admit to liking quite a few of the oldies , it all comes down to how well they are painted. Some of the Victorian landscape are beautifully painted but again it depends on how it’s done .
A few more that I liked or been intrigued by.   Mostly single pics, I have more of each, but that would be too much.  I'm probably nudging too much already. Here's what I mean by an intriguing artist. He's done a whole series of these...he calls them 'memories'. A knock 'em dead brilliant illustrator who uses watercolour and line, he's made numerous covers for the New Yorker magazine...one of the few magazines still using illustrators for it's front cover...maybe the only one...mostly photography has taken over elsewhere.  Peter De Seve.

Just you keep posting these superb artworks.
Love the pelicans, and the ‘memory’ paintings are fascinating.
Just delightful choices Lew , thank you.
