The work is strangely familiar, although I don't know the artist. This thread has shown us several artists covering similar subject matter, so maybe that's to be expected. This one, featured above, had me thinking it was by a different artist...Lewis, sandy Miller is well known for his “ gadgies” but the Pitmen Painters and Norman Cornish came before....but it isn't. It features on the artists website. It has a strong similarity to the work of the Scottish artist Alexander Miller. His figures have a caricature element, usually featuring working men with their backs to the viewer. That said I like this artists work.

We covered KW quite some time ago ,it was mentioned earlier in the threat that there as a likeness but he had put his own mark on his work . Back to Matt Payne , who I wasn’t aware of until Sandra mentioned him a little while ago, like is work and how he captures the essence of the place also the light which is very different to what we experience, colours more vivid.

Matt Payne is obviously an extremely skilful artist to produce what he does. Unfortunately for me the result is too photo realistic and I prefer more painterly pieces.
I can appreciate the beauty of the scenery definitely, especially the coastal views but they don’t appeal to me as paintings that I would want to hang on my wall. Sorry folks, everyone else seems to love them, but we are all different and these are just not for me.
Incidentally Dixie the first of your choice above is by someone else, different signature.

I’m with Tessa here! Extremely talented technically, but that’s not what art is about…for me anyway!
I’m also looking for a painterly approach but I can quite imagine that these would sell…Joe public would understand this photographic style of painting.
Good luck to him anyway, that last one is a beautiful seascape.
