Apologies for posting a bit early Jenny , I’m out till later today and wanted to get this posted beforehand.
Doreen Fletcher 1952.
Painter and teacher born in Stoke on Trent, who depicts urban landscapes which include Londons East End where she lived , lately Southern France and Eastern Europe.
Doreen completed a foundation course at Newcastle School of Art 1972-3 , then gained distinction at Croydon College of Art and Design 1973-6. From 1982 she was a visiting lecturer at Croydon College and elsewhere in London.
Since she was a teenager Doreen has been committed to drawing and painting what could be termed “ the almost gone “
I hope you enjoy my selection of her artwork.

They look familiar, maybe we’ve had an artist making similar work. No matter, I’m very happy to see these works. Beautifully painted with great attention to detail, which helps define the era. Not complete bygones, we still have the odd area like this. She paints them so well, I like the reflections on the wet road in the first picture.

I remember a couple of these being shown before, but not all of them - so it's a good chance to see them again and in those other cases, for the first time. It must be a bit of a job, finding artists we've not had before, particularly if you're searching out something out of the way - I'm surprised we don't get more 'duplicates'; in no case have I ever regretted seeing an artist we've covered before - affording us another chance to see a selection of their work.

Sorry folks for re introducing this artist , I do have a list of artists we have seen but in the last few months due to various reasons I’ve not updated it properly, hence mistakes. Fortunately it seems a few people missed the original post and like myself others find it interesting to revisit as you often notice new thing about the artist, that gobbledygook for me day phew got away with this one . Honestly though it’s sometimes difficult as I look at so many artists for the thread I sometimes think I’ve shown their work before to find I haven’t or as happened here I forget that I have already done this artists work. Another thing because I’ve looked at the worked quite a bit before adding to the list I can’t always remember if I’ve seen it because I featured the artist or because I’ve reviewed it for the thread , that and getting older leads to confusion but hey ho not a big problem in the scale of things .
