Welcome to this weeks thread , we have hit the 200 week milestone I can’t believe it’s been that long since Dawn and I posted the first one .
So many changes on POL and in the works in general, first off a big thank to everyone who had contributed and supported Jenny and myself, we honestly would not have got this far without you. On a sad note I would like to thank those who are no longer with us on the forum or gallery , they are all missed .
We have covered just about every subject , styles and genera of art over the past years and introduced around some eight to nine hundred different artists including all the special weeks that different people have presented , I actually think it’s slightly more and nearer the thousand mark .
What I want to do this week is to look back and pick out any artists that you want to revisit. I chosen a couple of bonus artists I presented in the early months and two artists presented by Denise and Russell , please do join in and add some more .

Yes, Paul and Jenny must receive a 21 gun salute for their work on the forum. Very fine work above. This series has been an eye-opener even for those artists you THOUGHT you knew.
I've been interested in art since I was a nipper in short trousers, with a conker on a string in my pocket. One of the first artists whose name I actually KNEW was Roland Hilder, he was one those artists whose work helped form my interest in art beyond those who drew for the Beano and Dandy. I had him slotted in my memory as a landscape artist solely, but he was much more than that. Alan introduced him on this thread. I discovered he also produced magnificent maritime art and book illustrations.
I first encountered him in railway carriages...
Some art that really hit the spot for me was Nick Wroblewski's wood cuts...introduced by Jenny...
And just to show that the span of art covered on Paul and Jenny's thread has been wide...wide...WIDE...here are some of Peter Addersley's whimsical paintings...(found by Jenny).
Thanks to all involved in this series.

It was seeing painting in the old railway carriages that really got me moving on from comics etc , there were some fabulous landscape scenes in them Lew. While Jenny and I have done the majority of the post on the thread there are some of you guys who introduced artists and done a great job of it to , so nice to sit back and see all the contributions and enjoy it without doing the work ourselves.
What is most encouraging is getting a response to the work you have posted, I do wish there was an indication of how many people look in not just comment, I’m sure we get more visitors than we think some weeks . Even if it not your cup of tea etc a simple remark would be a good indicator of how we are doing . I will look out a couple more artist to revisit, must add that they are not any particular favourites of mine just random choice.

Yes Paul, before the major website revamp some years back, the forum used to show the number of views. This was encouraging, if you’d posted something and had no response, you could see that maybe 20 (or whatever) had viewed it even if they hadn’t commented.
This was better, but I’m not complaining, we’re lucky to have the forum.

Yes, sometimes it has been a bit discouraging if an artist gets very few (sometimes no!) comments, but then I’ve enjoyed researching new artists and if even one person posts a positive comment, it can make it worthwhile. However, I am finally running out of new names - I’ve always had quite a long list, but now it’s down to one! Mostly I’ve come across new artists through Facebook which has been really useful, but even this source has gone a bit quiet recently. Of those we’ve looked at there are probably too many ‘new favourites’ to mention, but I agree with Lewis that Nick Wroblewski’s woodcuts are rather special. Will have a look through the thread and pick out a few more names.

Thank you, Alan! I’ve only recently noticed the monthly Art Club Challenge, and in an idle moment thought I’d enter something for it. Did you also notice that it featured one of Dennis Rounding’s paintings (from 2015) which I thought a bit strange as Dennis hasn’t been active on POL for a few years now. Maybe they needed a few more paintings and looked back through the POL gallery for holiday themed work. One of Dermot Brennan’s is there as well.
