I like abstract art to get a look in occasionally. Could I suggest some examples from other POL artists? I know I'm not the only one to do abstract painting. What about some of Val-Irene's beautiful colourful paintings? Some do verge on abstract.
One I did earlier! Not my forte but I do like some abstract art including many of those by Sandra. This is perhaps verging on semi-abstract based on a watercolour sketch by JMW Turner…
Yes, I agree, perhaps more than semi abstract. But so many people categorise a painting as abstract when it’s not. I like Paul Klee’s North African paintings….then there’s Gerhard Richter…then one I tried and found very difficult to do!

Sandra please select any artist who’s work you want to share and post the painting on this thread , no limit . You are more aware of abstract art than I am or quite a few people so please do share your experience and knowledge with us. If you have problems uploading then then let me have some names and I’m sure we can do the rest .
I  sat in front of Mark Rothko in the Hague, expecting to be transported…am I a  philistine? They did nothing for me….but they have an important place in art history and I wouldn’t dismiss them just because they didn’t affect me. One of his quotes was “ Art isn’t a picture of an experience, it is the experience” - I can understand that.

I agree about Rothko, Marjorie.  I spent 30 mins in the Rothko room at the Tate Modern. Baffled.
Rothko’s work does nothing for me either.  Another quote by him -
The Gerhard Richter room in the Neue Gallerie in Berlin.
Thought I’d bring this one back up again and add a couple of my own as well as my favourite abstract by Kandinsky.   I just paint circles because I like them.  This is Kandinsky’s quote on using them in his abstracts - Kandinsky - ‘Several Circles’

The top one reminds me a bit of yours, Jenny, with the clean lines and colour.
Marjorie, it’s probably because the top one is one of mine!  I’ve reworded it now to make it clearer.  Sorry for any confusion.
