Welcome to this weeks bonus artist thread my choice of artist this week is : Moira Huntly (b1932). Moira is a Scottish painter , writer and teacher born in Motherwell Lanarkshire. She attended Harrow School of Art under Christopher Sanders 1948-53 then Horsey College of Art 1953-4. Huntly taught art between 1954-60 then freelance , as a painter . Moira  is a professional artist interested in painting marine subjects, buildings and industrial landscapes as well as figure and still life. She paints in most media including mixed media and works in her studio from keenly observed ‘on the spot’ drawings .  In her paintings she is searching for a balance between the figurative and abstract patterns distilled from her drawings. Her love of colours is in the tradition of the Scottish Colourists .  Information taken from several sources. I hope you enjoy selection of her artwork. And finally a photo of the artist in her studio.
Paul, we have already looked at Moira Huntly - she was one I introduced, but it was quite some time ago.  Good, though, to see her work again - there are several here that I hadn’t seen before.  I especially like the last one which is in a different style to those we looked at before..

I though her name was familiar but when I looked back I missed her name on the list . I’ve been thinking about new specs best get off and get some asap . I will leave it as I have quite a lot on this weekend hope you good folk find some new ones. What a silly old man just get the specs and look closer will you, doing my Robert bit here and telling myself off .
I am familiar with the artist, probably because we showcased her a while back. Worth seeing again anyway… A mixed bag of styles… nothing wrong with that but a few are perhaps a bit too colourful for my taste. Skilful work and I particularly like the last one that Paul has posted…the palette, composition and her treatment of those stone walls! She’s not put in every stone which can often be a mistake…

Good to see her work again. I’m sure I have a book on her somewhere, will dig out and have a better look later.
Despite my love of outrageous colour, I find myself preferring the more subdued palettes in this artist's work.  Like the last three of Dixie's selection.
I agree with Lew, but there's room for "outrageous colour" as well as the subtlety displayed here (there is a bit of outrageous colour as well, but the point is that it's well judged: unlike that of one of my betes noires, whom I shall not execrate again [I've found my thesaurus]).
Really like the last three  and the use of drab colours.
I certainly prefer her more subtle colours , some more examples. I was quite cross with myself for featuring her work again but I’m pleased that I did as I’m really liking her work this time around, or is it I am more relaxed about it sometimes we rush through looking and don’t really absorb the paintings we are looking at .
I found my book of her sketches, so these are a few, with apologies for the photos but you’ll get the gist I’m sure.
A very fine Artist.
