Welcome to this weeks thread , apologies for the late posting but as you are aware we had a problem posting photos on the forum . Fortunately Dawn and the technicians sorted it out this morning. This weeks arts are : Masato Watanbe and Garry Devon.  Jenny will, start the week with her introduction to Masato Watanbe and on Wednesday I will introduce Garry Devon , I hope you all have a good week and enjoy the artwork.
Masato Watanabe is an artist who lives in Ashiya, a small city in Hyogo, Japan.  He practised perspective drawing and illustration for over 25 years, but in 2009 discovered watercolours.  Attracted by the transparency of the medium, he now creates such wonderfully complex scenes of Japan that it is hard to believe they were created using watercolour.  Ashiya is adjacent to the water, and boats and water are a recurring theme in his work.  Aside from that, he also brings to life everyday street scenes.   I think I prefer his pencil drawings to his rather photorealistic watercolours, but it’s amazing what some artists can achieve with watercolour.

Astonishing skill with his watercolours.  I'm constantly amazed at what can be done with this medium.  Despite that, I share Jenny's preference for his drawings.
On the whole, I too prefer the drawings - they show his techniques, he's not smudged or polished them out of existence (as many do).  But that last painting, of the ship, is very special.
This had slipped out of sight, just bringing it up again……
Astonishing indeed, some interesting and very accomplished work posted! The drawings are just that bit too fussy and detailed for me, but so clever nonetheless. That top pic of the steam train really appeals to me, detailed but not overworked!
Wow, Jenny another real gem! I like both paintings and drawings, and feel I need to ‘blow up’ his drawings to understand and observe properly.  From his paintings I just love the yellow bike!
Drawings are skilful and appealing, but I really love the ship/seascape come docks and harbours work.
Amazingly skilful artist
Superb Drawings and wonderful watercolours.
What a fantastic artist Jenny, I really love his paintings and his drawings, all wonderful. I'll be looking him up later on in the day. Fantastic work.
Many thanks for the introduction Jenny he is a superb artist and has taken watercolours to another level , definitely someone who I feel inspired by. Sorry I’ve been very greedy and selected quite a few of his paintings, I do love his water paintings the light and reflection are superb.
