Robert I’m a bit confused very easily done , with this artist I’m unable to find any paintings under this name, can you clarify for me please .  When I enter William Bell it comes up with a couple of artists one is AkA Wilfred Knox ?  Or is it a incorrect spelling etc by me.

His name was Wilfred Ball - but I can't find anything about him online either. He wrote a book or two, which sadly I no longer have.   I have concluded that he has disappeared into the ether, unless anyone knows any better.
Thanks for the clarification Robert I will have a look and see if I can find anything.  Found him I think .

I've looked again: there is one Wilfrid Ball, 1859 - 1917, which isn't our Wilfred.  And a Wilfred Ball, described as artist and countryman, whose books can be found on Amazon/Abe Books, but about whom there is no recorded information at all that I've been able to find.  Certainly not the same man, because the books are all from the 1980s.  All I can tell you about him is that he used a lot of masking in his paintings, and from the photograph of him that I remember, he was getting on a bit when the books were published.   After his name, he had the initials 'R.E.' - other than Royal Engineers, I have no idea what that means or meant - anyone better informed than I am, please contribute.
Maybe I found the one you have just mention , bet Jenny can sort it out if anyone can.
Just had a Google and I can only find your ancient one ...RE is also some reference to a utensil/ cookware shop.    You have a mystery artist here.  Why not make it a competition " Hunt the Artist" .
I found a Wilfred Ball (1915-2000). Could he be the one?
The second one, with the mansion next to the lake, is delightful. I'm not the biggest fan of his style, but some of the works are charming. Here's another one I enjoy:
Robert, are you sure it wasn’t the Wilfrid Williams Ball (1853-1917) who Paul mentioned earlier?  I’ve found this which mentions two books he published in 1906 and 1909.  His Wikipedia entry refers to him as Wilfrid Ball R.E.  Or is he too early? His Wikipedia entry which refers to him as Wilfrid Ball R.E.

Something to do with the Royal Society of Painters & Printmakers apparently - but I don’t know what they stand for!
