I can think of many English artists that would be my first choice, but interesting in his diversity.
We seem to be in agreement on the rocky shoreline, the two small figures are perfectly positioned.
The left figure could have been left out, it’s not needed here - any more prominent and it would have taken the viewers eye straight to it… not a good move!

I also really like the tree painting you’ve selected, Paul, but I think you’ll find it’s by his father, Andrew Wyeth, whose work I prefer. Jamie Wyeth paints a wide range of subjects, but doesn’t appear to have as distinctive a style as some of the other artists we’ve looked at. I do, though, like some of his animal paintings.

Thanks Jenny , it was attributed to him hence my posting it thanks for the clarification. I’m really not sure of his work but will have a couple of looks as often there is something more to the artist than is often shown straight away. I do like the three you have posted the dog in particular.

I think his work is very interesting, in fact, I love it. Some of it has a slight sinister look to it, I noticed it with some of the animal paintings, you can't put your finger on it but when you look at the painting, something is saying, beware. I think it's a stroke of genius, when an artist can provoke a wide range of feelings when you look at their artwork. Francis Bacon, his artwork is strange but some of this artwork is so subtle in it's strangeness, it's very slight of hand. I don't really know how to explain it in art terms but I hope you get my drift. Of course, that's just some of his artwork. I love the kennedy portrait and all Jenny has posted. I had not come across this artist before and I am very impressed by his work.
Whale.
Pumpkinhead. Self Portrait.
Giuliana and the Sunflowers.
Rudolf Nureyev.

I wonder if this artist finds having such a famous Grandfather and Father something of a poison chalice. The grandfather, N.C. Wyeth, was a famous and brilliant illustrator. I admire his work. The father Andrew produced astonishing and brilliant work also. But I think Jamie is a very fine artist in his own right. I've heard his art described as 'ambiguous'. Maybe it is. I take that to mean it can't be understood, or can be interpreted in many ways. For me that's a plus. I like slightly oddball art, although it's not to everyone's taste. So for me, an interesting choice.
