I have really enjoyed looking at the railway posters this week, they were made to catch the eye and the imagination, and they certainly do that.  Having read the article mentioned above, I now appreciate the time and work that went into the preparation of them - proper works of art!
Yes this has been a brilliant week, all thanks to Jenny for her in-depth knowledge of the subject.  Here's a few more I like, hope I'm not duplicating anything. This one by John Finnie is of the Cutty Sark at Greenwich.  I visited it last year, Greenwich is where I was born.  The ship is displayed very differently now, following a major fire a few years back.  This poster has a looser sketchier style... Another historical one... Harrogate...don't know the artist, can't read the signature... And what you get up to when you get off the train... And one for the dogs...
A good selection Lew , I do remember seeing a dog poster not sure if it that one or not .  They are historical in there own way, and quite rightly stored and cared for. I have always thought of the people producing these excellent poster as Artists and like illustrators they tend to be seen often in an inferior way without the writing and in a frame many would sell as stand alone paintings.
DAY 5    Featured artists are - Austin Cooper,   William Sennett,   Lewis Wilton Williams,   Verney Danvers,   W R S Stott,   Leslie Carr,   Leonard Richmond AUSTIN COOPER WILLIAM SENNETT LEWIS WILTON WILLIAMS VERNEY DANVERS W R S STOTT LESLIE CARR LEONARD RICHMOND These are the last of my selection of Railway Posters.   I do have a few London Underground posters I could finish off with tomorrow afternoon if anyone’s interested, although they don’t somehow have the same appeal as the Railway Posters we’ve looked at.

Do add then Jenny ad it will be of interest to those who lived or live in London and we can see the difference between National Railways and London Underground Railway.
Yes do please add those Jenny! I’ve had a busy week preparing for visitors so haven’t had time to dig out a choice but have really enjoyed looking at these posters. They have a feel good factor to them. Thanks all.
And to finish - a few London Underground Posters…. CHARLES PAINE DAVID BOOTH AUSTIN COOPER ALFRED KEENE MELVYN LAWRENCE EDWARD KAUFFER HORACE TAYLOR KATHLEEN STENNING ALFRED FRANCE

Thank you for adding the Underground posters Jenny it’s a fine way to finish off a brilliant week of dedicated work. Thank you for presenting it so well and for the information you provided.
Excellent, I love the Tate Gallery by Tube, and the Lure of the Underground!

A lovely selection, and a delightful array of styles. I have one poster that's not railways or underground, I'd thought it was because it had a logo that I'd taken to be the British Railway logo, but in fact is the London Transport logo. It's for the Green Line buses, which ran from London out into the suburbs and beyond.  I recall using them as a nipper.  So, not quite in theme, but very close to it, and I like the fact that it's a drawing.  'Country Markets' by Imrie Hoffbauer.  Allow this small indulgence.
It’s an interesting drawing, Lewis - love the wording that goes with it!  I also came across lots of bus route posters - maybe a subject for a future thread, so many types of poster were created.  (One thing I found, though, when looking for travel posters is that a lot of the vintage poster sites very often don’t include the name of the artist.)
