There's a 1947 article from The Artist by Walter Spradbery that you might enjoy on PO here https://www.painters-online.co.uk/tips-techniques/in-conversation/articles/some-aims-and-ideals-in-poster-art-by-walter-e-spradbery/
Thanks, Dawn - looks like a really interesting article - I’ve added it to my Studio Wall and will read it later (if I can remember where to find it again - first time I’ve used it!)

Just go to My Membership Jenny - everything can be found there, magazines, videos, extra tutorials and your Studio Wall!
Yes, thanks for that link Dawn.  I too have put it on my wall.  It'll be read thoroughly and 'dipped-into' in the future.  It'll join several forum threads that I've found really interesting. This thread by Jenny is also there.

Superb choice Jenny my favourites are the Dartmoor and the Yorkshire Dales posters .
I really like Brian Cook’s Cornwall, and the simplicity of Tom Purvis’s view of Bamburgh Castle. A really good thread.

Not just art but history too.  It's hard to imagine iron works in Lincolnshire these days, or indeed naval battles off the Yorkshire coast as part of the American war of independence.  I think as a child I would have been hugely disappointed to go the Scarborough and find no galleons!
Just bringing this one (Day 4 artists) back up again………

I think I too would have been disappointed, Tony. So much drama, certainly would capture a child's imagination. Each artist has their own unique way of painting. I like the serenity and the drama they convey to encourage the viewer to visit. The Western Highlands, a rugged beauty, this appeals to me. The colour pallet of The Yorkshire Moors, its vibrant contrasts make it pop.
