Hello everyone. What a truly excellent site this looks, thank you for letting me join.
I'm Robert, based in W Yorkshire, and though I have 'dabbled' with painting and drawing for years, it is only in recent times that I've taken it more seriously. I'm mostly involved with painting murals, hobby that sometimes actually pays. I'm in my late 50s now but remain ambitious.
I absolutely love looking at people's artworks so am expecting to be on here a lot, though my initial reason for joining the forum was to ask for some advice (please).

I am not sure whether I am doing something wrong, or I have to serve a kind of probation period of time, or there is a site issue... so please forgive me if I've made a mistake. I have tried to add a profile pic to my account here but so far it has not worked. I also wanted to not show my full name on the forum but when I have tried to update my profile, again it has been rejected with no apparent explanation.
I am new here so am suspecting the issues are of my own making but I am not exactly a Luddite when it comes to forum frequenting :-)

It could be too large a file James, or the wrong format!
JPEGs are the accepted file so have a check…
As far as changing your name, I’m not sure about that, other members will know more I’m sure!

'Unexpected Error' message arrived, saying that the error has been confirmed to the site's administrators or something. I will email Dawn tomorrow.

I recall a couple of weeks back some people were getting 'Unexpected Error' when trying to upload to the gallery. It didn't affect me so didn't pay much attention, but seem to recall there was an issue with browser cache, so maybe if you signed off, cleared your cache and signed on again you might get a result. If someone recalls the problem, maybe they can dig up the thread it was reported in please??
