White Knuckle Ride

My last blog post ended with gotta go Nana's not well...so I phoned the Dr who advised an ambulance immediately...to start at the beginning...she went out this morning on a stormy rainy day very unusual for her and it surprised me...she arrived home about 1pm a little late for her and told me she had been soaked through twice but there was no sign of that...she deteriorated in front of my eyes...she didn't know where she had been what she had bought or who she had met...she couldn't remember the name of the Pharmacist who has been a friend of ours since the 70's...I advised a hot shower and bed and was about to ring the ambulance...but after warming up she had recovered and said she had a migraine and sat and told me of her morning and went off to bed for a Nany Nap...Nana came through when Hubby got home...and she was confused and talking gibberish, very glassy eyed...I have never in all of the illnesses I have nursed her through ever known her to be confused like this...so I called the ambulance whilst Nana's shouting I'm not getting into it...well her blood pressure should have made her head explode it was so high...the Para-Medics had to put a drip up and give her medication to try to bring it down before we even left the driveway...the meds only worked for a couple of degrees...so off we went to Fremantle Hospital on a code 1...lights and sirens all the way...all traffic moving out of the way and through the red lights...it was pouring down and there was at least three ambulances under siren and lights at the same time...I stayed in the back with the Para-Medic to keep her settled and help if necessary...we still don't know what is wrong with her...they admitted her and in all honesty they couldn't have sent her home...in my humble opinion I feel she has a clot roaming around...I know there are times that I get quietly annoyed with her but I would never wish this on anyone...for myself I'm so glad that I have done the White Knuckle Ride in a past life as a nurse otherwise they might have admitted me too...we have to wait now as the Dr's do the test to try to figure out what is happening to her...it is just over a year since the last ambulance ride although that one was a bit more sedate...I left the house at 4.45 pm and got home at 10pm...Hubby and Daughter came later it was still raining when we left the hospital...and I'm cream crackered...it never rains but it pours
