Wet on dry!

In this week's class we first drew a cube to illustrate the use of washes. One side was darker to give it a three dimensional feel. We then did a beehive. After deciding where the light was coming from a another wash was put on the darker side - yet another wash was added to the dark side at the suggestion of the tutor. There is a some poetic licence on my part with the speckling of bees which are better proportioned on the right hive. It seems as if the delicacy of the original picture is not so refined in the photographed art work and seems to work better in the second example of the two beehives (uploaded). The two beehives were worked together, one was worked on, while the other one dried. More of a background is painted on the right hand hive which seems to have solidified the structure of this hive.
